What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag? – Tenerife

As you may know, I recently got back from Tenerife and I thought it would be quite nice to share with you what was in my travel makeup bag. I really enjoy reading this type of post as I find them really helpful for discovering new products and for travelling too. I also enjoy writing them so I thought it would be worth doing. I thought it would be a good idea to go through each product, tell you about it, why it’s in there etc. just so you know whether you’ll like them or not. I also tried to take a small amount of products as I was taking hand luggage only. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this and let me know if you’ve tried any of these makeup products.

The Makeup Bag – I’m taking my Ted Baker Katient Small Bow Makeup Bag which fits everything minus the eyeshadow palette and the cream contour kit. It’s the pale pink one with the grey bow which is such good quality and definitely worth the price.

The Summer Bronzer – So, the first thing is the L’Oréal Glam Bronze Bronzing Powder in ‘Caribbean Sun.’ This is my favourite bronzer for bronzing the face and obviously on holiday I want to look as bronze as possible. It has a very, very slight shimmer to it which is lovely for Summer and it’s also the perfect shade for my skin.

The Stunning Highlighter – Next I have one of my all time favourite products, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in ‘Moonstone.’ You’ve probably heard everyone talking about these highlighters and it’s for a good reason (see my full review here). It is the most finely milled highlighter ever and this shade is perfect. It’s great for adding a natural glow to the skin which is what I want on holiday and in Summer.

The Waterproof Liquid Liner – I don’t wear liquid liner a lot but I need to take it in case I want to put some on. My favourites are from L’Oréal as they are easy to apply and don’t smudge or transfer and the one I’m taking is the L’Oréal Super Liner Black Lacquer Waterproof as it is waterproof perfect for humidity and hot weather.

The Lightweight Concealer – I love lightweight and natural concealers and my favourite is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in ‘Ivory.’ It gives a medium coverage and a radiant finish which I personally love and is great in warmer weather.

The Perfect Powder – As I have oily skin and the weather is hotter which will make it even more oily, powder is 100% necessary. My all time favourite is the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Transparent’ which sets my makeup into place all day and it is just as great as any high end powder.

20170325_102929

The Best Brow Kit – The brow product which I use all the time and have done for a year is the L’Oréal Brow Artist Genius Kit in ‘Light/Medium’ which has a powder and a wax. I can do natural brows for when I have no other makeup on and I can do full brows for when I’m wearing a full face. I couldn’t go a day without this.

The Contour Shade – For contour I actually use the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. It is the perfect shade for my paler skin (however, I am excited for the lighter version in May!, it’s matte and it’s so natural… I just love it! (read my full review here) It has khaki undertones but it’s also great for bronzing up the face too.

The Smudge Proof Mascara – My favourite mascara ever is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in ‘Black’. It is volumising, lengthening and even though it’s not waterproof it’s completely smudge proof. If you are looking for a waterproof mascara, the waterproof version of this is so waterproof you won’t be able to get it off.

The Matte Foundation – I’m currently trying out the Bourjois Air Mat Foundation in ‘Rose Ivory’ which I will do a full review on soon. It is a matte foundation and it keeps my oily skin shine free for a number of hours.  It’s important in hot weather for me to wear a matte foundation or it wouldn’t be on my face after half an hour.

The Perfect Palette – The Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette is my go to eyeshadow palette as it has some stunning pink shades, an array of brown shades, a matte white and also a black. The quality of these is very good, the packaging is very sturdy so it’s perfect for travelling and there is also a good mirror which is great.

The Matte Eye Primer – I think eyeshadow primer is such a necessary step as it keeps my eyeshadow on for so much longer without fading, smudging or creasing. My favourite is the Urban Decay Eden Eyeshadow Primer Potion as it’s completely matte so works with ever look.

20161217_142838.jpg

The Contour Kit – I don’t often use my Sleek Cream Contour Kit in ‘Medium’ as it’s too dark for me usually and I find contouring with powder easier. However I thought it would be perfect now as it has darker shades and I’m going to be fake tanning, I can use it to darken my foundation and it also has a large mirror which I’ll use for doing my makeup.

The Nude Lip – My current favourite nude lipstick is MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Viva Glam II’ as it is a medium nude shade with a bit of pink in it. It has a satin finish so it’s comfortable on the lips yet it is very opaque and long lasting.

The Liquid Lipstick – I wanted to take a liquid lipstick and a true nude shade with no undertone so I’m taking my NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in ‘Abu Dhabi.’ It is a medium nude with no undertones and it is so comfortable on the lips you can barely feel it.

The Bright Lip – As I already had two nudes I thought I would take a bright lip as they look great with a tan. I decided on the Stila Color Balm Lipstick in ‘Avery’ as it’s a stunning coral pink shade and it has the nicest lip balm like formula yet is so opaque and long lasting.

The Versatile Lip Liner – As I’m taking three quite different lip options I wanted to take a lip liner that works well with all of them. I chose the Model Co Illusion Lip Liner as its a ‘your lips but better’ shade and it seems to work with anything.

My Everyday Makeup – April 2017

I’m going to be sharing with you what my everyday makeup routine is and what products I’m loving at the moment. I did my last everyday makeup routine back in December so I thought it would be about time that I did another. I really enjoy writing this type of posts and you seem to enjoy them but let me know if you do so I know if I should do another one in the future. Anyway, I really hope you enjoy this and let me know what you’re current favorite makeup products are.

The first thing I do is apply my foundation. I use the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in ‘Light Porcelain’ which you have all heard me talk about a million times before. It gives a natural radiant finish while offering a light/medium buildable coverage. To buff this into my skin I’ve been using the Real Techniques Multi Task Brush which I find distributes the product evenly giving the most natural coverage which is what I want for day to day wear. The concealer I use is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in ‘Ivory’ which I don’t feel like anyone really talks about anymore, but it’s a great concealer for under the eyes as it is really lightweight and overs a light/medium coverage. Next I prime my eyes using the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in ‘Eden’ which I think is a really important step as it ensures that your eyeshadow will last all day without creasing or smudging. I set my eyelids and under eye area using the lighter powder from the Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit in ‘Medium.’ Then I set the rest of my face using my favorite powder ever, Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Peach Glow.’ It is only £4 and it works so well. I apply this using my Real Techniques Powder Brush.

20161217_142559.jpg

Next I fill in my eyebrows using the L’Oréal Brow Artist Genius Kit in ‘Light/Medium.’ I love the brow products from L’Oréal as they are cool toned and ashy. If you want to see my full opinions on this product, check out my review. I use the wax to define and shape my brows before filling them in with the powder. I then use my Benefit Hoola Bronzer to contour and bronze my face. If you want to know more information about this product, check out my review. It’s the perfect shade for both bronzing and contouring as it’s not too cool and ashy but it’s not to warm and red either. I use the Real Techniques Sculpting Brush to contour my jawline, cheekbones and nose. I then use the Real Techniques Multi Task Brush to bronze my forehead and neck. Then for one of my favorite parts of my makeup routine, I use the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in ‘Moonstone’ to highlight my face. I apply it to the tops of my cheekbones, the tip of my nose, my cupids bow, on my brow bone and in my inner corners. It is the most beautiful colour and it’s so finely milled – deffinetly worth the money! If you want to know more about it, check out my review.

My eyeshadow is slightly different everyday but I thought I’d share with you two of my current favorite looks. So, look number one. I blend some of my Benefit Hoola Bronzer which is my contour/bronzer shade into the crease. I then take my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette and put the shade ‘Trick’ all over the eyelid. For the second look, I take the same palette and put the shade ‘Limit’ in the crease as a transition shade and then also blend the shade ‘Nooner’ into the crease too to deepen it a bit. I also take the same shade under my eye. I add a little bit of the shade ‘Dust’ on the eye to add some shimmer. I use my all time favorite mascara, Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in ‘Black.’ To see my thoughts on this and why I love it so much, check out my review.

20160726_123751.jpg

I use a different lip product almost every single day depending on what look I’m going for and what eyeshadow I’ve used etc. so I’m just going to share my two current favorites. But before I do, I want to mention that the lip liner I always use is the Model Co Illusion Lip Liner. It’s the perfect shade for any nude/pale pink lipstick. I’ve rekindled my love for my first ever MAC lipstick. It is the MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in ‘Crème Cup.’ It is a pale blue toned pink which for me, is really easy to wear and is the perfect spring colour – it goes perfectly with the second eyeshadow look I mentioned. To see my full opinions check out my MAC lipstick collection where I talk about this. The second lipstick I’ve been loving is my most recently purchased MAC lipstick which is the MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Viva Glam II.’ It’s a gorgeous nude colour which isn’t too brown and isn’t too pink – it’s just perfect. This lipstick isn’t included in my MAC lipstick collection as I wrote it before I got this lipstick. I’ll do another one soon but I’ll definitely be buying a few more tomorrow in duty free. I also sometimes add some lipgloss over my lipsticks and if I do it’s the NYX Butter Gloss in ‘Fortune Cookie.’ These lip glosses are so affordable but have an amazing non-sticky formula.

Christmas Day GRWM

Yesterday it was Christmas Day – I had the best Christmas and I really hope all of you did too. I thought today I would do a Christmas Day GRWM including hair, makeup, outfit. I hope you enjoy this and let me know what your favorite part of Christmas Day was.

After a quick shower I used some Soap & Glory Righteous Body Butter to maintain my Dove Derma Spa Summer Revived Light/Medium Tan. I then moved on to my morning skincare routine which is very basic. I like to wash and exfoliate my skin with my Garnier Pure Active Anti-Blackhea Deep Pore Wash to make sure my makeup applies well. I then moisturise my skin using my E45 Cream but I’m looking for a new moisturiser so leave your recommendations please.

Now moving on to hair. From the night before I had put in my Boots Bendy Rollers. For my hair, I only used 4 which left me with the perfect curls. If you curl your hair alot like me, then these are perfect as they don’t damage your hair. After brushing them through I made sure that I sprayed my hair with some L’Oreal Elvive Satin Normal Strength Hairspray to ensure that they lasted all day as my hair is quite sleek and curls tend to drop out quickly.

I then did my makeup. I feel like I’m constantly going over my foundation routine so if you’re interested, click HERE to see it. After all of that, I did my eyebrows using the L’Oreal Brow Artist Genius Kit in ‘Light/Medium’ using the wax to define the arch and powder to fill them in (to see my full eyebrow routine, click HERE). I then contoured using the Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit in ‘Medium’ and bronzed my face with the L’Oreal Glam Bronze Bronzing Powder in ‘Caribbean Sun.’ I then added some highlighter using the MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter in ‘Pink Shimmer’ (please let me know of any good highlighters – I’m stuck on what one to get!).

I primed my eyes with the Urban Decay Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion and the shade ‘Nooner’ from the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. I used my contour shade in the crease and then applied the shade ‘Liar’ from the same palette on the eyelid. I used the shade ‘Factory’ under the eye and smudged the shade ‘Blackheart’ along the upper lash line. I added some of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in ‘Black’ to my eyelashes – it’s my favorite mascara.
I prepped my lips for lipstick with the Burt’s Bees Original Lip Balm and then lined them with the Model Co Illusion Lip Liner. For lipstick, I decided to go with a mauve/nude shade with a hint of pink so I used MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Viva Glam II.’

I wore my Moss Copenhagen Silver Sparkle Skirt which is perfect for the festive season. With that I wore my H&M Black Crop Top which is really plain and simple so it was perfect to pair with the skirt. I had on a pair of black tights as it’s freezing which were either from Primark or Calvin Klein. I just wore my Topshop Keeper Leather Chelsea Boots which are just really easy to wear with anything. The perfume I used was Chanel No5.

My Everyday Makeup – December 2016

I’ve not done an everyday makeup routine in quite a while now so I thought it was about time I did. This is just my current everyday go to makeup look which I’m loving right now. I did a foundation routine recently and you can see that if you click HERE. I hope you enjoy this and let me know what products you’re using at the moment.

In my recent foundation routine I mentioned that I was using a primer but I’ve since stopped using that as I’ve found primer just doesn’t work with my skin at all. It blocks my fairly large pores and my skin just looks awful. I just go straight to foundation and I’m still using Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in ‘Light Porcelain’ which gives a medium and natural coverage. To apply and blend it out I’ve been using my Real Techniques Sculpting Brush which is angled and quite dense. To conceal my undereyes and any slight redness I may have I’ve been using my Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in ‘Ivory.’ It is really light weight and has a medium coverage which I like. To cover any blemishes I’ve been using my MUA Hide & Conceal Concealer in ‘Natural.’ It is quite thick and is high coverage so it’s perfect for covering blemishes or imperfections. I then prime my eyelids using the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer. I then set my undereyes and eyelids using my favorite powder, Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Transparent.’ Then to set the rest of my face with the Collection Lasting Perfection Pressed Powder in ‘Fair’ which I don’t really like as it oxidises my foundation but I don’t hate it so I’m just using it up. I apply my powder with my Real Techniques Powder Brush.

Next I do my eyebrows using the L’Oreal Brow Artist Genius Kit in ‘Light/Medium.’ I shape them with the wax and then fill them in with the powder making sure not to be too heavy handed. I then like to contour and I use my Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit in ‘Medium.’ I apply this under my cheekbones, on my nose and on my jawline using the Real Technqiues Sculpting Brush. I then like to bronze (eventhough it’s Winter – I’m just obbsessed with bronzer!) using the L’Oreal Glam Bronze Bronzing Powder in ‘Caribbean Sun.’ I then highlight the tops of my cheekbones and the tip of my nose using the MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter in ‘Pink Shimmer.’

Next I do my eyeshadow and I’m still in love with my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. I take the shades ‘Limit’ and ‘Nooner’ which are both matte shades on a blending brush and apply them in the crease. It’s literally as simple as that, although sometimes I’ll take a brown like ‘Factory’ under the eye on a pencil brush. Then I apply my favorite mascara which is Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in ‘Black.’ It volumises my lashes so much and people sometimes think I’m wearing false lashes – that’s how good it is.

I then apply some lip balm, my usual choice being the Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm to moisturise my lips. This step is especially important if I’m going to be doing a matte lip. I then outline my lips with my Model Co Illusion Lip Liner which is a lovley your lips but better nude shade. I usually change my lip colour up everyday but my go to colour recently has been MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Faux.’ It is a stunning and feminine pinky nude which complements my pale beige/neutral skintone well.

The Ride Or Die Makeup Tag

I’m doing the ride or die makeup tag which was created by Jaclyn Hill. I loved watching her showing her all time favorite products and I’ve enjoyed everyone elses take on the tag too. I have added in a couple of categories and taken out a couple and I think all of you should do this tag too!

Foundation
My favorite foundation would probably have to be Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in ‘Light Porcelain.’ It offers a light to medium buildable, natural coverage and the shade is great. It is also only £8.99 so it is really affordable.

Concealer
I like different concealers for different things but if I could only have one it would be Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in ‘Fair.’ This is full coverage, can cover anything and the 4 shades they have are great. I can’t get over the fact it’s only £4.19.

Face powder
This was the easiest one, it would deffinetly be Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Transparent’ and it’s only £3.99. It comes in 6 shades and gives a matte finish. It keeps your makeup in place all day and I love it.

Contour
My favorite cotour product is my Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit in ‘Medium’ which has a matte contour shade and a matte highlight shade. They are pigmented, blend so easily and the result is so natural.

Bronzer
I think L’Oreal bronzers are amazing and I love L’Oreal Glam Bronzing Powder in ‘Caribbean Sun.’ The shade is perfect for me (I use the 3rd of 9) and it is matte but has shimmer through it so it looks so natural.

Blusher
I don’t wear blusher that often but when I do, I always reach for Collection Blush in ‘Bashful’ which is only a couple of pounds. It looks so natural and pretty.

Highlighter
I haven’t tried a crazy amount of highlighters but I love MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter in ‘Pink Shimmer’ which is so pigmented and long lasting especially for the price of £3.

Mascara
I have tried so many mascaras and I really like alot of them, but I always find myself going back to Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara ‘Intense Black’ which gives amazing volume and length.

Eyeshadow Palette
I do love eyeshadow palettes and I have quite a few but my go to palette is my Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette which contains the perfect shades for me. They are so long lasting and blend effortlessly.

Eyeliner
I have a few highend liners but the Rimmel Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Pencil in ‘Jet Black’ is my favorite. It is pigmented, blendable and it doesn’t smudge easily.

Liquid eyeliner
I’m very specific when it comes to liquid liner and I love all L’Oreal ones. My favorite would be L’Oreal Super Liner Black Laquer Waterproof as it lasts and is easy to apply.

Lipstick
This was so hard but a great everyday lipstick for me is MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in ‘Creme Cup’ as the formula and colour are amazing!

Liquid lipstick
I’d have to go for NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in ‘Abu Dhabi’ as it is so comfortable to wear yet it lasts all day. The colour is also the perfect nude.

Lipgloss
Eventhough I only recently discoverd N07 BB Lips Beauty Balm in ‘Ballerina’ it has already become my favorite. I just love the creamy formula and they pretty colour.

Eye primer
Eyep primer makes all the difference when it comes to keeping your eyeshadow on all day and I love Urban Decay Anti Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion as it does just that.

Lip liner
I absolutley love Model Co Illusion Lip Liner which is one colour suits all and it makes your lips look slightly fuller yet natural.

Perfume
I think my favorite would have to be a classic, Chanel No5 Eau De Toilette as it is perfect for any occassion.

Eyebrows
I love doing my eyebrows and I’ve tried alot but my favorite product would be L’Oreal Brow Artist Genius Kit in ‘Light/Medium’ as it’s a great colour for me and the powder and wax are amazing.

Highend Vs Drugstore – Dupes

Today I wanted to share some drugstore dupes for highend products that are actually as good as eachother. I’ll be giving my opinions on everything about each of the products which I have tried. If you have any good dupes, be sure to let me know!

Highend: Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (colour ‘Mugshot’), £38.50
Drugstore: Collection Little Mix All About The Eyes Palette (colour ‘Dazzling Brown’), £2.99
Price Difference: £35.51

The two palettes have simmilar colours and quality to the eyeshadows. The specific ones which look most simmilar are ‘Mugshot’ from the Urban Decay palette, and ‘Dazzling Brown’ from the Collection palette. Each of them have a simmilar finish and amount of shimmer to them, so they’re almost an exact match. The Collection eyeshadows are slightly chalkier but not when on the eyes. They are both as easy to blend. The Urban Decay ones are slightly more long wearing as you would expect for the price. I don’t prefer one over the other but I do prefer the colours in the Naked 3.

Highend: Stila In The Moment Palette (colour ‘Captivate’), £25
Drugstore: MUA Undress Me Too Palette (colour ‘Obsessed’), £4
Price Difference: £21

The quality of the Stila palette is much better but the four metalics in the MUA palette are just as good, however the other eight in the palette arn’t. The shade ‘Obsessed’ from the MUA palette is a metalic so is as good as it’s color match, ‘Captivate,’ from the Stila palette. All of the different finishes from the Stila palette are amazing. However from the MUA one, the mattes and shimmers are good for the price, but the metalics are on par with Stila. I prefer the Stila palette as a whole, but the MUA one is still great if your on a budget.

Highend: Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl Eye Liner in ‘Noir,’ £17
Drugstore: Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil in ‘Jet Black,’ £2.99
Price Difference: £14.01

These two eye liners are practically the exact same which is unbelievable for the price. They are both as pigmented as eachother and have the same pay off; they also have an identical texture. The Rimmel eye liner is slightly blacker which is good for a more intense or night time look. The Rimmel one is slightly easier to blend which is great if you want a smokey eye, but it means the Lancôme liner is less likley to smudge. They both have great lasting power and I use and love them both equally.

Highend: Model Co Illusion Lip Liner, £16
Drugstore: MUA Intense Colour Lip Liner in ‘Caramel Nougat,’ £1
Price Difference: £15

I honestly could barely tell these lip liners apart! Both of these are a beautiful salmon nude/pink colour, however the MUA one is slightly more pink. They have the same amount of pigmentation and texture, and both line the lips perfectly. Both have amazing staying power and I love and use both of them equally.

Highend: MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Snob,’ £15.50
Drugstore: Essence Long Lasting Lipstick in ‘Natural Beauty,’ £2.30
Price Difference: £13.20

These lipsticks are an exact colour match, both feminine pinky nudes which are super classy and chic. Both are just as pigmented as eachother which is increadible considering the price difference. The MAC lipstick has a satin finish and the Essence lipstick is creamy so they have a different finish. Both are long lasting, however the MAC lipstick does wear for slightly longer. I love both of them and use either one depending on which finish I want. They are almost identical apart from the finish so I do get a bit more use from the MAC lipstick.

How I Achieve Fuller, Bigger Lips & My Favorite Products

Big lips have been one of the biggest trends recently, and it seems that ever since Kylie Jenner got her lips done, everyone else seems to be getting surgical procedures to give them results like hers. I personally love the look, but not enough to get lip injections; and I personally wouldn’t want my lips quite as big, and I know alot of people feel the same. Over the past few months I’ve tried and tested alot of different products, and I’m going to share with you the ones that worked. If you want lips that look like Kylie’s, the only way is lip injections, but for a less intense look these things should work!

Having moisturised and hydrated lips is very important. It will make the other products you use much more effective. I would highly recommend Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm, £2.69, which has been a favorite product of mine for years. It is super hydrating and feels quite plumping, although, I don’t really think it is! I also really love Vaseline Petrolium Jelly, £1.95, which is very moisturising and will instantly fix dry lips.

Lip plumpers, something you’ve probably tried before, but all of them are different and they don’t all work the same. I too, have tried quite a few but the one I find that works most effectivly is the Victorias Secret Very Voluptous Lip Plumper in ‘Baby Pink,’ £15. It is has a really pretty sheen of pale pink through it and it is quite shimmery, which I find makes the lips look really juicy and full. You can feel it working but it’s not irritating like some.

Lip liners are what Kylie claimed that she used, and eventhough they won’t give you results like hers, they are amazing for outlining or over drawing the lips, while still keeping them natural looking. One of my favorites is Model Co Illusion Lip Liner, £16, which is one colour suits all, and is supposed to give the illusion of fuller lips. For me, it certainly does and it is the perfect colour if I want to over draw them. For a cheaper alternative that works as well, I’d recommend MUA Intense Colour Lip Liner in ‘Caramel Nougat,’ £1, which is the perfect ‘your lips but better’ colour.

And lastly, the perfect lipstick colour and finish is essential to completing your fuller lips. I love MAC lipsticks, and for fuller lips I especially like their matte and satin finishes. Two colours that work well for me as ‘your lips but better’ colours are MAC Matte Lipstick in ‘Honeylove,’ £15.50, and MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Faux,’ £15.50. ‘Honeylove’ is my perfect nude and ‘Faux’ is a gorgous pink nude which suits me perfectly. If you have darker skin, you’ll be lucky enough to get away with colours like ‘Velvet Teddy,’ one of Kylie’s favorites, and ‘Whirl,’ another beautiful colour, both of which are from MAC.
