Beauty Haul: April 2017

Today I thought I would share with you what I’ve been buying recently in another beauty haul. I seem to do these quite a lot but I really enjoy writing these posts and you seem to enjoy them too. I have actually tried all of these products now (I’m writing this a while after I’ve bought them) so I’ll also give you a brief review/first impressions on each of them but if I have a full review coming, it’ll say. Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products, tell me what I should buy next and I hope you enjoy.

Kokostar Foot Peeling Pack, £8 – I have wanted to buy a foot peeling pack for a long time and when I saw this in Urban Outfitters I had to buy it. Honestly, it’s probably the best thing I’ve ever purchased. After about a week all of my skin had peeled off my feet and they feel brand new. I also got one of these for my mum and she loved it too. I’d highly recommend these, they really do work. I will have a full review on this up in the middle of May.

Burt’s Bees Hydrating Lip Balm with Coconut & Pear, £3.69 – You may know that Burt’s Bees lip balms are my all time favourite lip balms and so I always have to have at least two in case I loose one of them. I had never tried this particular one (I usually stick to the original – my favourite) but I really like it. The scent is nice, not too overpowering and these lip balms are 100% too. I’ve you’ve never tried one, I’d recommend that you do.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Transparent,’ £3.99 – This is my favourite powder and the only one that I’ll use so I was repurchasing it as I have to do ever month or two. I intended on getting the shade ‘Peach Glow’ but they didn’t have that so I just got the ‘Transparent’ shade as that obviously works for everyone. This powder just sets my makeup into place all day and keeps my oily skin shine free for hours. I love it and I highly recommend it.

20170325_102929

Bourjois Air Mat Foundation in ‘Rose Ivory,’ £9.99 – I went to repurchase my favourite foundation (Rimmel Wake Me Up) but they didn’t have it in my shade so I just went over to the Bourjois stand as I’ve heard great things about their products and grabbed this one with out looking at the shade or anything. Luckily it is a good colour match and I do really like it. I have a full review of this coming towards the end of June (I have a lot planned) but in the meantime, if you have oily skin, this is a great option.

St Ives Blemish Fighting Apricot Scrub, £4.19 – I went to buy my favourite exfoliator (Garnier Skin Active) and they didn’t have it (I was clearly having a really lucky night!). So, I just had to find an alternative, also containing salicylic acid and I saw this. I’ve also heard that Gigi Hadid uses this so I thought I may as well just try it. I can say that it is amazing and I saw a notable difference in my skin. I’d recommend this and I’ll have a review up in the middle of May.

20170325_102824

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, £1.99/125ml, £7.99/700ml – I love this, it’s the best micellar water I’ve ever tried. I bought the small one for travelling with and I thought I may as well by the large one just for backup. It just gets my makeup off really well and I’d recommend that you try this if you haven’t already.

La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Anti-Shine SPF50, £16.50 – I needed an SPF50 moisturiser and after doing quite a lot of research, I decided to buy this one. It’s a great SPF (I didn’t get burnt once and there is no tan on my face) but not only did it protect my skin from the sun, it really did reduce the amount of oil on my face. It is the best product I’ve ever used for oily skin and that is a bold statement to make. I couldn’t recommend this enough and there will be a review up in the middle of May.

MAC Amplified Lipstick in ‘Blankety,’ £16.50 – A holiday is not complete without buying a MAC lipstick in duty free. I knew I wanted to get ‘Blankety’ as I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and I wanted an everyday, wearable nude shade that was quite shiny yet fully pigmented. It’s such a good shade and would work well for a lot of skin tones. It would also go with any makeup look, for day or night and I’m really glad I now have this shade in my collection.

What’s In My Travel Wash Bag?

As you’re reading this, I’m on holiday (I’ll share where I am in the next post when I’m home – just in case!) and this is the first of the five travel posts you’ll be seeing from me over the next few weeks. I thought for the first one I’d share with you what’s in my travel wash bag, probably something you don’t see too often. I just find this kind of thing really helpful for when I’m travelling to make sure I’m packing all of the right things and also just because I like to see what other people like to use and travel with. I’m not going to include every single thing in my wash bag because we all know I’ll be taking a toothbrush and I’m sure you don’t want to know what toothbrush I have! I really hope you enjoy this and let me know if you’re going anywhere soon.

  • La Roche-Posay Anthelios Anti-Shine Dry Touch SPF50+, £16.50 – It is extremely important to protect your skin from the sun and it’s also extremely important to have a different SPF particularly for your face. I actually did a post last Summer talking about the importance of sun protection. I am quite pale and burn quite easily so using a high SPF is very important for me.
  • Soltan Kids Hypoallergenic Suncare Lotion SPF50+, £9 – For the rest of my body I also got an SPF 50. I have a kids one just because it’s harder to find very high SPFs that aren’t for kids. It’s also hypoallergenic and very water resistant which is helpful.
  • Dove Derma Spa Summer Revived Fair to Medium Skin Body Lotion, £7.79 – I am definitely not going to get a tan as I’m using such high SPFs so I’m taking a gradual fake tan. I really like this tan a lot as it gives such a pretty, natural and sun kissed glow.
  • Mitchum Advanced Women Powder Fresh Deodorant, £2.99 – I needed to take a deodorant with me and this was just the first one I saw.
  • Chanel No5 Eau De Toilette Handbag Size, £75.50 – This is one of my favourite perfumes ever and it is a 20ml bottle in the handbag/travel friendly black plastic packaging.
  • Yes To Cucumbers 30 Soothing Hypoallergenic Facial Wipes, £3.99 – I needed to bring some face wipes with me and to me, a face wipe is a face wipe, they’re all the same. These were just the first ones I saw.
  • St. Ives Blemish Fighting Apricot Scrub, £4.19 – This is the face scrub I’ve brought with me. I’m currently just trying it out and I’m quite happy with it so far. It contains salicylic acid which I personally find really benefits my skin. I’ll give you my full opinions soon.
  • Foreo Luna Mini Skincare Device, £85 – This is the skincare device that I use. I love it and I could not last a day without it therefore it just had to come with me. It deeply cleanses my skin yet it’s so gentle.

20170325_102824

  • Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Mini, £1.99 – This is my favourite micellar water and I always travel with the mini version. It just gets all of the makeup off of my face so quickly and it’s so travel friendly.
  • Aloe Pura Aloe Vera Gel, £5.99 – This is the product which has just totally changed my skin (see how in my review!) so I had to bring it on holiday with me. It is also supposed to be amazing for sunburn so if by chance I do get sunburnt, then this should help.
  • E45 Cream, £2.35 – This is what I use as my night time moisturiser so I obviously had to bring it with me.
  • Burt’s Bees Hydrating Lip Balm with Coconut & Pear, £3.69 – Burt’s Bees do my favourite lip balms ever. This is the one that I’m currently using and I always need to have a lip balm with me.
  • Piz Buin in Sun Lipstick SPF30, £5 – I also need a lip balm for wearing during the day with an SPF in it and this was the highest one I could find. A lot of SPF lip balms feel horrible on the lips but this is really nice.
  • L’Oréal Elvive Fibrology Air Shampoo, £2.89 – This is one of my favourite shampoos and it makes sense to share a shampoo with my Mum and we both really like this one.
  • L’Oréal Elvive Fibrology Air Conditioner, £2.89 – Again, this is a really nice conditioner which I really like. As the word ‘air’ would suggest, it’s really lightweight which is great.
  • Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, £5.99 – My nails are awful at the minute to the point where I can’t even paint them so I’m using this to try and help them as it has all natural ingredients.

Update: My Skincare Favorites of All Time

Today I’m going to be doing an updated ‘My Skincare Favorites of All Time’ as I realised it was one of my most popular posts in 2016. Since I posted the original post back in July, I realised a lot has changed – I have some new products to share and the products which I’ll be mentioning again, I want to go into a lot more detail about. I want to state right now that I have oily/combination skin, have frequent but minor breakouts and have dehydrated skin. I’ve had a lot of trial and error with skincare and these are my five favorite products that I’ve ever tried. I’d recommend that you check out my original skincare favorites post from last year as those are amazing products but I now favour different ones. I really hope you enjoy this and find it helpful and please let me know what you’re skincare favorites are.

E45 Wash Cream, £4.35 – I’ve been using this for about seven months since I heard Saffron Barker saying that she used it and she has amazing skin. I initially really liked the fact that it is soap free, non foaming and non drying because even though I have oily skin, it’s dehydrated and the last thing I want to do is dehydrate it further which would lead to excess oil production and more blemishes. This is intended to be used to treat dry skin conditions which I don’t have; I don’t even have dry skin at all. I use this to remove my eye makeup, remove my base makeup and for the first cleanse of my skin. I use about half a pump to remove my eye makeup which it does so efficiently and then I use a pump with a little bit of water to remove my base makeup and cleanse my skin. It leaves my skin feeling so soft and this will work so well for all skin types, even sensitive skin. I’d highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good quality yet affordable cleanser.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, £4.99/400ml – I have been using this for around ten months now after everyone was using it and recommending it. As it was so affordable I decided I had to try it. Firstly, it is better than every other micellar water I’ve tried so if your looking for one, get this one. I use this to remove any makeup left on my face after I’ve cleansed my it and it does a significantly good job – a lot better than you get from others of that price. This is perfect for all skin types but there are a few different formulations specifically for different skin types which I am yet to try. I just soak a large cotton pad in this and it gets every last bit of makeup off. I highly recommend this to everyone as I’ve found it’s better than products four times the price of it. It’s a great skincare product to have.

wp-image-571706995jpg.jpg

Garnier Pure Active Anti-Blackhead Wash, £3.79 – I’ve been using this amazing product since last Summer when I needed a new exfoliating face wash. Not only did it work well as an exfoliating wash, it reduced the amount of breakouts I had and became one of my all time favorite skincare products (hence why I’m mentioning it in this post). I had heard that the pure active range from Garnier was great for oily/imperfection prone skin due to it’s salicylic acid content but I didn’t think it would actually control oil production without drying out my skin, reduce the amount of breakouts I had and get rid of blackheads. I use this daily and I’m still on my first bottle so it lasts ages too which is great. This isn’t too harsh on the skin but it’s harsh enough that it actually exfoliates properly. If you have dry or sensitive skin I’d steer clear of this but if you have oily/combination and/or acne or blackhead prone skin, I’d highly recommend that you give this a go.

Foreo LUNA Mini Skincare Device, £85 – I got this product for Christmas in 2015 and after having used it for over a year I can tell you with confidence that it has completely changed my skin. I was struggling with blackheads, uneven texture and breakouts. I was fully prepared for this not to work but it really did. I almost immediately noticed a difference and a year later my skin has never looked better (it’s still not great). It removes breakout-causing impurities and excess oil and it has dramatically reduced the amount of blackheads I have and the texture of my skin is a lot more even. It uses T-Sonic pulsations and it is amazing because its really hygienic due to the fact that it’s silicone and also waterproof. I would highly recommend those struggling with any kind of skin issues to seriously consider investing in one of these – it changed my skin and was the answer to my problems, it could be the answer to yours too.

Aloe Pura Aloe Vera Gel, £5.99 – I have just recently written a full review on this product which I would recommend that you read as I won’t go into as much detail here. Anyway, I’ve been using this for about three months now after I heard Kathleen Lights talking about how it completely cleared her skin. I figured it would be worth trying as it claimed when I read about it online to reduce breakouts and clear acne scarring. When I first started using it my skin broke out quite badly but that’s normal and I talk about why in the review I did. When that breakout cleared, my whole face looked so much healthier and I’ve noticed my breakouts have been less frequent and less severe. I had very minimal but still noticeable acne scarring which has slightly reduced and become less noticeable but it can take up to two years to fully go away. I’d highly recommend that anyone with any kind of skin issue looks into buying this – it’s a skin saviour.

New Beauty Launches – February 2017

I thought I’d start sharing with you some of the new beauty launches as I’ve seen some things like this on YouTube and on other blogs but not that many. I probably won’t do it every month but if you all seem to like it then I might make it a monthly thing. So I really hope you all enjoy it and let me know what new beauty launch you’re most excited for.

Maybelline Falsies Push Up Angel Mascara, £7.99 – I have seen so many adverts on TV for this recently and it does look like a really good mascara. I love Maybelline mascaras so even though I’ve never tried this particular mascara, I can say that it’s most definitely worth trying. I know I’ll be picking it up when I’m finished the rest of my mascaras (from Maybelline by the way!). The reviews on the Boots website a mostly good and according to them the thin, plastic, curved wand helped them coat every lash and gets right to the bottom of the lashes. There were people who were unimpressed by it but with every product, there will be people who dislike it. I don’t like the packaging personally but I could see past that if it was a great product.

L’Oréal Pure Clay Foam Wash, £5.99 – When I saw these on the Boots website I was so excited – these look amazing! You’ve probably seen that quite a few months ago now the pure clay masks were released and these are in the same line. As with the masks, there are three different washes for three different skin types. The black one is a detox wash made with charcoal which cleanses, clarifies and detoxifies. The red one is a glow scrub made with red algae which cleanses, brightens and exfoliates. The green one is a purity wash made with eucalyptus which cleanses, purifies and mattifies. There are no reviews on these yet but they look amazing and as L’Oréal is a trusted brand, I’ll definitely be picking one of these up next time I’m in Boots.

Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash, £3.99 – I first saw these a few weeks ago and as soon as I did I was so excited. I love the micellar water from Garnier, so although I’ve never tried these, I know I need to and I’ll definitely need to try these as soon as possible. It is supposed to remove your makeup but not leave your skin feeling tight and dry. The few reviews that this has are average, some saying the like it, others saying it’s good but not great. They have also released a version of this for combination and sensitive which I think will be more suited to me. It doesn’t have any reviews yet but I assume it’s much the same as the original version. I can’t wait to try this!

REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask, £28 – I love face masks but I’ve never loved a specific one, and I think if I try this I’d love it – it just sounds amazing. It sounds like it would be an amazing product for sensitive skin as it claims that it will calm, soothe and moisturise sensitive skin. I’ve never tried REN skincare products but they sound amazing and I’d love to try this. It has no reviews yet but I think it will be an amazing product that people will start talking about as REN is a reputable brand and the product itself sounds amazing.

Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer, £23 – I never thought that Nars would come out with a concealer in this form to be honest as not many people use or talk about concealers like this in a pot. But by the sounds of this, it looks like an amazing concealer and when people start trying it, they’ll love it. It’s matte as the name would suggest and it has the highest coverage of any Nars concealer. The video I watched on the John Lewis website says it’s great for covering dark under eyes, blemishes, large pores, hyperpigmentation and redness. It comes in 16 shades which is less (correct me if I’m wrong!) shades than what other Nars concealers come in but it’s still a wide variety ranging from very fair to very dark. The packaging is really sleek too and I like the sound of this concealer a lot.

Urban Decay Urban Defence SPF 30 Complexion Primer, £23 – Urban Decay have released four new primers all of which look amazing. However, this particular one really caught my eye and I can’t explain how excited I am about it! It’s a sunscreen that is completely clear! Let me know if you share my excitement! It says that those with oily skin will be blown away and that it doesn’t feel like a mask – if that is the case, then I will be so impressed! As well as being a high SPF sunscreen, it also primes skin, apparently minimizing the appearance of pores. I just know I have to try this and I can’t wait to do so!

40 Beauty Questions Tag!

Today I thought I’d do a tag as I’ve not done one in ages and when I do them you all seem to really enjoy them. I googled some and I decided to do the 40 beauty questions tag because it seems like a great way to learn about peoples beauty rituals. If you do this tag make sure to let me know so I can read your answers to these questions and I really hope that you enjoy this!

1. How many times do you wash your face daily?
I wash my face twice daily. I like to wash my face when I wake up in the morning and then again at night when I’m getting ready for bed.

2. What skin type do you have?
I have combination skin. So my t-zone is quite oily and I have fairly large pores and my cheeks are quite dehydrated and feel really dry. It can be quite annoying having this skin type but over the years I’ve picked up lots of tips to help me manage it.

3. What is your current facial wash?
I use the same facial wash morning and night and it’s the Garnier Skin Active Exfoliating Wash which is amazing for oily skin, prevents and treats spots because it contains salicylic acid and it’s affordable too. Garnier do some amazing face washes.

4. Do you exfoliate?
Yes, my facial wash which I just mentioned is an exfoliator so I lightly exfoliate my skin twice daily. People will tell me that’s too often but I have oily skin so I need to keep it clean and my pores unblocked.

5. What brand do you use?
A bit of an irrelevant question because as I’ve already mentioned, the brand of facial wash I use is Garnier.

6. What moisturiser do you use?
I use E45 Cream as my cheeks get so dehydrated and it works surprisingly well with the more oily areas of my face. If you have any recommendations I terms of moisturiser, or anything for that matter, please let me know.

7. Do you have freckles?
Yes and I love them! As it’s currently Winter they’re barely visible and I miss them so much! And I personally don’t like drawn on freckles so I can’t even do that – they DO NOT look real at all!

8. Do you use eye cream?
No I don’t. Should I? Let me know!

9. Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Inevitably, I do due to my oily t-zone but it’s not too bad and I’ve found ways to manage it well.

10. Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
No, I’ve never had to use Pro-activ.

11. What foundation do you use?
The foundation I use is Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation. It’s perfect for everyday wear as it has a medium and luminous coverage with a natural finish. It also works well with most skin types and it’s also affordable.

12. How about concealer?
I use the matching concealer to my foundation which is Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer. It’s especially good for under eyes due to it’s light consistency and illuminating effect but it can be used all over the face.

13. Do you know your undertone colour?
I think my undertone is fairly neutral – not cool or warm. It’s great because a lot more suits me as I can wear cool or warm colours.

14. What do you think of fake eyelashes?
If they are applied properly and they fit the persons eye size and shape well then I think they can look amazing. Personally, I don’t wear them often but I do wear natural lashes when I do.

15. Did you know you are supposed to change your mascara every three months?
I did, but who actually does that? It’s more like every six to eight months for me… I don’t think that’s too bad though as I keep my makeup clean and I’d never share a mascara.

16. What brand of mascara do you use?
The brand of mascara I use is Maybelline, specifically Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. It’s amazing and so affordable so next time you need a mascara try this. The wand is like no other! Let me know what mascara I should try next though.

17. Sephora or MAC?
Well, I live in the UK so I only have the chance to shop in Sephora once or twice a year so if we’re talking realistically it would be MAC because I can actually shop there whenever. But if we’re not then I’d chose Sephora because of the wider collection of makeup you can buy there.

18. Do you have a MAC pro-card?
No, I don’t.

19. What makeup tools do you use in makeup application?
I mainly use Real Techniques brushes as they are amazing quality, apply and blend makeup so well and are really affordable too.

20. Do you use a makeup base/primer for the eyes?
I use the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion which I think makes such a difference to the application and wear time of the eyeshadows. I’d highly recommend this to anyone who wears eyeshadow.

wp-image-598063382jpg.jpg

21. For the face?
No, and here’s why. I have large pores due to my oily skin and I find that primer blocks them so much and makes my skin break out quite badly. I don’t find it made any difference in the application or wear time of my makeup so I just don’t think they’re for me.

22. What is your favorite eyeshadow?
It would probably have to be Urban Decay Eyeshadow in ‘Liar’ (from the Naked 3 Palette). It’s such a pretty mid brown shimmery shade that is perfect for every occasion – I love it.

23. Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
I use both because they’re completely different things. For pencil liner I love Lancôme Le Crayon Kohl Eye Pencil as it’s easy to apply and last well. For liquid liner I love either L’Oréal Super Liner Perfect Slim or L’Oréal Super Liner Black Lacquer Waterproof as they are so easy to use and last so well. I usually just tend to use a brown or a black eyeshadow rather than an eyeliner as it’s so much easier.

24. How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
Quite rarely, but when it does happen it’s a disaster as your eyes start watering, taking off all of your eye makeup and ruining your base too. Huge first world problem right there!

25. What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I have a few pigment eyeshadows but I rarely use them as they’re best for nights out. And even then I forget about them and just stick to normal eyeshadow.

26. Do you use mineral makeup?
I don’t. Let me know if you do and what’s better or worse about it than normal makeup – I’d be interested to know.

27. What is your favorite lipstick?
How am I supposed to answer that?! That’s like asking someone to pick their favorite child! It’s impossible! *Thinks for about 5 minutes, comparing the wearability (is that a word?) in all situations* I hate to choose but it would have to be MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Faux.’ It’s probably my most worn lipstick as it’s a gorgeous feminine mid-pink toned nude. It could be worn with any makeup look on anyone.

28. How about lipgloss?
It would have to be No7 BB Lips Beauty Balm in ‘Ballerina’ as it has a non-sticky formula and the colour is a beautiful pale pink which suits me well and is so wearable.

29. What is your favorite blush?
I personally don’t think blush suits me what so ever and I only like bronzy/nude shades on other people or I personally think it can ruin their makeup. Let me know if you have any natural blushers that you can recommend to me.

30. Do you buy your makeup on Ebay?
No. I don’t think I’d ever feel comfortable doing that as you never know who is selling it. I’d rather go into store or order from an official makeup website.

31. Do you like drugstore makeup?
Yes, I love drugstore makeup! I think a lot of it is as good as or better than a lot of high end products. I do love some high end items more (eyeshadow, bronzer, highlighter) but for the most part, I use and love drugstore makeup.

32. Do you go to CCO’s (cosmetic company outlets)?
No, I don’t.

33. Did you ever consider taking makeup classes?
I don’t feel like taking a makeup class would be necessary for me as I find it really easy to learn things from YouTube, beauty blogs etc. and so I think it would be a waste of money. I don’t know if I will in the future though.

34. Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
I can be quite clumsy when I’m applying mascara. I watch makeup tutorials and people are putting on their mascara perfectly well, making no mess. Then there’s me running my eyeshadow and getting it everywhere. Maybe it’s not as bad as that but I just can’t seem to apply mascara! When I’m doing everything else however, I’m fine.

35. Name a makeup crime that you hate?
I’m personally not really a fan of blusher that looks bright pink on the cheeks. I think the focus should be more on the eyes or the lips and it also makes the cheeks look less defined, and ruins the contour and highlight. If you love bright pink blusher, don’t be offended! You do you and I’m sure you look great!

36. Do you like colourful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
I usually stick to neutral shades on both the eyes and lips but I’d really like to start wearing more colourful shades of lipstick, I think I’ll start in the Summer. I think certain people really suit colourful shades of makeup and others really suit more neutral shades and I suit neutral shades more.

37. Which celebrity always has great makeup?
There is no specific celebrity that I can think of because literally all of them look amazing all the time. I mean, if you had that much money how could you not?

38. If you could leave the house using just one makeup item, what would you use?
I’d use my L’Oréal Brow Artist Genius Kit to fill in my eyebrows. I frequently leave the house with only my eyebrows on.

39. Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Yes I do it all the time. I love the way I look with and without makeup on but that confidence has come with time so if you’re not there yet, don’t worry!

40. In your opinion, what is the best makeup line?
That’s almost impossible to answer! For drugstore makeup I’d pick L’Oréal as their products are amazing quality and for high end makeup I’d pick MAC as they have a great variation of products. Both brands together, everything you’d ever need!

My Winter Morning Routine 2017

Today I’m going to be sharing my current Winter morning routine. I had never really thought about doing a morning or evening routine before so I really hope you enjoy this. Also please let me know what moisturiser you use and what skin type you have as I’m looking for a new moisturiser. Also let me know what kind of content you’d like to see from me in 2017 and I’ll do my best to do everything.

As I’ve not been having to get up for school I’ve been going to bed a lot later than usual and so I’ve been getting up at about 10am as oppose to 6:40am. When I wake up I’ll usually just lie in bed for half an hour or so on my phone just checking Snapchat, Facebook etc. and then I go and get some breakfast. I’ll usually have some whole wheat cereal with some light Greek yoghurt and a bit of honey. I’ll also have some fruit, which is normally an apple and sometimes some berries. To drink I’ll have two pints of water and a cup of decaf green tea with jasmine.

After I’ve had breakfast I’ll go in the shower and get washed but on this particular day I’ll be washing my hair (I wash my hair once or twice a week). I’m going to be using my favorite shampoo which is the Bleach London Silver Shampoo and I’ll wash my hair with that twice. I really love this shampoo as it is quite strong and it really tones my hair and helps me maintain my natural ashy tone. I then use the conditioner to go with that which is obviously the Bleach London Silver Conditioner which I apply to the mid-lengths and ends of my hair. I keep that in my hair for a couple of minutes while I shave etc. and then before I wash it out of my hair I brush it through with the Tresemme Ceramic Styling Brush which is waterproof just to make sure my hair doesn’t have any knots in it.

Then when I get out of the shower I put on my dressing gown and then I like to brush my teeth before doing my morning skincare routine. The first thing I do is wet my face before I use the Garnier Pure Active Anti-Blackhead Pore Wash which I really do find unblocks my pores and therefor prevents blackheads. Also the fact that it contains salicylic acid makes it perfect for acne prone/oily skin as it removes oil without stripping the skin and prevents breakouts. I then like to apply some Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Toner which is also great for preventing breakouts. Lastly I like to apply some moisturiser and the one I use is E45 Cream which is prefect for dry skin but as I mentioned I’m looking for a new moisturiser so please leave your recommendations. To finish things off I like to apply a bit of lip balm and at the minute I’ve been obsessed with the Maybelline Baby Lips in ‘Mint Candy.’

Now is the time when I like to do my makeup which is my favorite part of my morning routine. I recently did a post on my every day makeup routine so you can click here for that. However there are couple of things that I’m doing differently today. I’ve finally gotten round to repurchasing my favorite powder which is Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Peach Glow’ and my makeup is instantly looking better again – I really don’t recommend the Collection powder I was using as my face powder in that post! I did my eyeshadow exactly as I did in that post but I decided to use the shade ‘Wonder’ from the Stila In The Moment Palette as my lid colour. I also did my lips differently. I used the MUA Lip Liner in ‘Caramel Nougat’ as the lip liner I used in the other post is blunt and I can’t find my sharpener anywhere (they are almost identical anyway). I also used my newest lipstick which is MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Viva Glam II’ which is a medium mauve/nude with a little bit of pink in it – it’s a gorgeous colour.

The final part of my winter morning routine is choosing my outfit which is usually a difficult process and I often get changed quite a few times until I am satisfied with my outfit. Today I’m wearing my Forever 21 Black Crop Jumper which I feel like I wear all the time. I’m also wearing my H&M Black Jeggings and the shoes I’m wearing are my Topshop Leather Chelsea Boots which are my favorite boots ever – I just wear them all the time. I’m wearing my Boohoo Black Cape which my sister got me for Christmas and I also wore my Maya Copenhagen Faux Fur Stole which my sister also got me. The handbag I’m using is my Jasper Conran Leather Black Grab Bag which is the handbag that I use on a daily basis.

2016 Beauty Favorites – Skin Care & Body Care

I’m going to be doing the second part of my 2016 beauty favorites. As I mentioned in the last one of these I have split them up into the categories makeup, skin care, body care, hair care, nails and fragrance. In the previous one I shared my makeup favorites, in this one I’ll be doing my skin care and body care favorites and I’ll be sharing my favorites from the rest of the categories in the third part in a couple of days. Let me know what some of your beauty favorites have been from 2016 and I really hope you enjoy this.

Skin Care

  • Garnier Skin Active Pure Anti-Blackhead Deep Pore Wash, £3.79 – This was one of the products which I discovered just by chance. I was just looking for an exfoliating face wash containing salicylic acid and this was the first one I came across. It is a blue liquid with tiny blue exfoliating beads in it which do an amazing job of exfoliating my skin – they’re not too harsh but they definitely do enough. The fact that it contains salicylic acid means it’s great for acne prone skin and even though my skin isn’t too bad I think it has made a difference in how fast my sports go away and how bad they look. It is also great for oily/combination skin as it does remove any excess oil from the skin however it doesn’t strip the skin leaving it dehydrated. I use this product daily and I would definitely recommend it to those with acne prone and/or oily/combination skin but it would even work well with normal skin especially in the Summer.

  • Aloe Pura Organic Aloe Vera Gel with Tea Tree, £5.99 – I only discovered this product recently when I heard Kathleen Lights mention how much she loved using aloe vera on her skin, but I feel I can already confidently say that this product is amazing. You must use an aloe vera plant if you have or can get one but if not (like me) use pure aloe vera gel from somewhere like Holland & Barret that sell natural products. I won’t go into how aloe vera benefits imperfection prone skin but you can read about it if you want. At first when I started using it my skin got worse as it goes right down to the bottom layers of your skin and brings everything out. Even though it doesn’t prevent blemishes, it brings them out quickly and gets rid of them fast and it is also meant to get rid of acne scarring in the long term. I’d recommend this to anyone although it does dry out my skin so much so make sure you have a good moisturiser at hand.
  • Foreo LUNA Mini Skincare Device, £85 – I have been using this since last Christmas so that’s over a year now and I can confidently say that this has improved my skin so much. Essenitally it is a “facial-cleansing device that directs T-Sonic™ pulsations through an ultra-hygienic silicone brush.” I think one of the main reasons that I like it so much is the fact that it is so hygienic as it is all silicone and also it’s completely waterproof. It cleanses really deeply so it gets all of the impurities out but it is so gentle. It has decreased the amount of blackheads that I get and has improved my skins texture too. I would deffinelty recommend this to anyone who needs a cleansing device/brush but especially to people who suffer with textural issues or a lot of blackheads.
  • E45 Dermatological Emollient Wash Cream, £4.35 – I have been using this for around six months now ever since I heard that it was a good product for removing makeup. It is really good at removing eye makeup (even waterproof) and I only need about half a pump for that and then for the rest of my makeup I use one pump diluted a very small amount with water. It literally just melts off my makeup and then I just continue on with the rest of my skincare routine. It is very hydrating and moisturising on the skin and it would work well for all skin types especially dryer skin.

  • Vaseline Lip Therapy Original, £1.95 – This is one of my all time favorite lip care products ever (if you want to see the full list click here). It has a fairly thin consistency and is just a little bit thicker than a lip oil. I find that it is a really hydrating and repairing lip balm especially when I have drier lips in Winter. The original one is my personal favorite as it is completely scentless and colourless. Even though the consistency is quite thin you can build it up to be really thick and it acts well as a barrier if you feel like you are going to get a cold sore and I have found I then don’t get them. I always have one of these on hand and I recommend these highly.

Body Care

  • Dove Derma Spa Summer Revived Fair to Medium Skin Body Lotion, £6.99 – I decided to give this a try during Summer as I don’t tan at all and also because Anna Saccone uses it and her tan looks so natural. The fact that it is so easy to apply is amazing and it literally takes less than 5 minutes to do my whole body. It doesn’t have that fake tan smell at first, it actually has a scent which I really like but I find that after a good few hours it starts to slightly smell of fake tan but not as badly as most fake tans do. It gives such a lovely and natural sun kissed glow to the skin – when I’m wearing this nobody has asked if I’m wearing fake tan, I’ve only been asked why I have tan and people are shocked to learn it’s fake. This is definitely my favorite fake tan of all time.
  • Soap & Glory Clean On Me Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel, £6.50 – Is it a bit weird to have a favorite shower gel? Anyway, I just love this shower gel and I use it all the time. The scent is really nice, some people might not like it as it is quite fragranced; it contains natural mandarin peel extract and they describe it as their “Original Pink fragrance.” It leaves my skin feeling really soft and smooth and I also love the fact that the bottle is so big so it lasts such a long time.
  • Lush Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, £16.50/225 g – I never really knew that a body conditioner was a thing up until quite recently and I certainly didn’t think it was something that I would need. Well, now after having used it I have to say I don’t think I’ll be able to go back to not using one. Basically, you use it as you would a hair conditioner, but on your body. It contains lots of oils and butters to leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. It contains argan oil which is deeply nourishing and is rich in vitamin e so it has anti-aging properties in it. It also has a very delicate rose scent and it’s a vegan product.

  • Lush Serendipity Soap, £3.50/100g – I never thought I’d be including a soap in any blog post I ever wrote but I truly do love this soap enough to talk about it. If you don’t like lavender you will not like this but I really love it. It’s main ingredients are chamomile blue oil, lavender absolute and French lavender oil. The soap also looks really pretty and looks so nice in my bathroom. This is a vegan product and Lush soaps always last me such a long time.
  • Lush Intergalactic Bath Bomb, £4.25 – I  thought I’d finish off this blog post by mentioning one of my favorite Lush products from this year. Intergalactic bath bomb was a new release this year and once it became available outwith the Oxford Street store I had to try it. As the bath bomb is fizzing away it has such pretty colours and contains popping candy but once it’s completely dissolved it leaves the water a very deep blue colour and has very small glitters throughout the water; it also has a mint scent which I love so much. It’s main ingredients are peppermint oil, grapefruit oil, vetivert oil and cedarwood oil. It is a vegan product which is great.
