What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag? – Tenerife

As you may know, I recently got back from Tenerife and I thought it would be quite nice to share with you what was in my travel makeup bag. I really enjoy reading this type of post as I find them really helpful for discovering new products and for travelling too. I also enjoy writing them so I thought it would be worth doing. I thought it would be a good idea to go through each product, tell you about it, why it’s in there etc. just so you know whether you’ll like them or not. I also tried to take a small amount of products as I was taking hand luggage only. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this and let me know if you’ve tried any of these makeup products.

The Makeup Bag – I’m taking my Ted Baker Katient Small Bow Makeup Bag which fits everything minus the eyeshadow palette and the cream contour kit. It’s the pale pink one with the grey bow which is such good quality and definitely worth the price.

The Summer Bronzer – So, the first thing is the L’Oréal Glam Bronze Bronzing Powder in ‘Caribbean Sun.’ This is my favourite bronzer for bronzing the face and obviously on holiday I want to look as bronze as possible. It has a very, very slight shimmer to it which is lovely for Summer and it’s also the perfect shade for my skin.

The Stunning Highlighter – Next I have one of my all time favourite products, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in ‘Moonstone.’ You’ve probably heard everyone talking about these highlighters and it’s for a good reason (see my full review here). It is the most finely milled highlighter ever and this shade is perfect. It’s great for adding a natural glow to the skin which is what I want on holiday and in Summer.

The Waterproof Liquid Liner – I don’t wear liquid liner a lot but I need to take it in case I want to put some on. My favourites are from L’Oréal as they are easy to apply and don’t smudge or transfer and the one I’m taking is the L’Oréal Super Liner Black Lacquer Waterproof as it is waterproof perfect for humidity and hot weather.

The Lightweight Concealer – I love lightweight and natural concealers and my favourite is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in ‘Ivory.’ It gives a medium coverage and a radiant finish which I personally love and is great in warmer weather.

The Perfect Powder – As I have oily skin and the weather is hotter which will make it even more oily, powder is 100% necessary. My all time favourite is the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Transparent’ which sets my makeup into place all day and it is just as great as any high end powder.

The Best Brow Kit – The brow product which I use all the time and have done for a year is the L’Oréal Brow Artist Genius Kit in ‘Light/Medium’ which has a powder and a wax. I can do natural brows for when I have no other makeup on and I can do full brows for when I’m wearing a full face. I couldn’t go a day without this.

The Contour Shade – For contour I actually use the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. It is the perfect shade for my paler skin (however, I am excited for the lighter version in May!, it’s matte and it’s so natural… I just love it! (read my full review here) It has khaki undertones but it’s also great for bronzing up the face too.

The Smudge Proof Mascara – My favourite mascara ever is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in ‘Black’. It is volumising, lengthening and even though it’s not waterproof it’s completely smudge proof. If you are looking for a waterproof mascara, the waterproof version of this is so waterproof you won’t be able to get it off.

The Matte Foundation – I’m currently trying out the Bourjois Air Mat Foundation in ‘Rose Ivory’ which I will do a full review on soon. It is a matte foundation and it keeps my oily skin shine free for a number of hours.  It’s important in hot weather for me to wear a matte foundation or it wouldn’t be on my face after half an hour.

The Perfect Palette – The Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette is my go to eyeshadow palette as it has some stunning pink shades, an array of brown shades, a matte white and also a black. The quality of these is very good, the packaging is very sturdy so it’s perfect for travelling and there is also a good mirror which is great.

The Matte Eye Primer – I think eyeshadow primer is such a necessary step as it keeps my eyeshadow on for so much longer without fading, smudging or creasing. My favourite is the Urban Decay Eden Eyeshadow Primer Potion as it’s completely matte so works with ever look.

The Contour Kit – I don’t often use my Sleek Cream Contour Kit in ‘Medium’ as it’s too dark for me usually and I find contouring with powder easier. However I thought it would be perfect now as it has darker shades and I’m going to be fake tanning, I can use it to darken my foundation and it also has a large mirror which I’ll use for doing my makeup.

The Nude Lip – My current favourite nude lipstick is MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Viva Glam II’ as it is a medium nude shade with a bit of pink in it. It has a satin finish so it’s comfortable on the lips yet it is very opaque and long lasting.

The Liquid Lipstick – I wanted to take a liquid lipstick and a true nude shade with no undertone so I’m taking my NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in ‘Abu Dhabi.’ It is a medium nude with no undertones and it is so comfortable on the lips you can barely feel it.

The Bright Lip – As I already had two nudes I thought I would take a bright lip as they look great with a tan. I decided on the Stila Color Balm Lipstick in ‘Avery’ as it’s a stunning coral pink shade and it has the nicest lip balm like formula yet is so opaque and long lasting.

The Versatile Lip Liner – As I’m taking three quite different lip options I wanted to take a lip liner that works well with all of them. I chose the Model Co Illusion Lip Liner as its a ‘your lips but better’ shade and it seems to work with anything.

MUA Undress Me Too Eyeshadow Palette Review

Today I wanted to do a review an MUA eyeshadow palette. I have various palettes from them so I thought I’d start by reviewing this one. Let me know what MUA eyeshadows you have and what you think of them.

MUA Undress Me Too Palette, £4

In this palette you get 12 eyeshadows – soft neutrals, cool greys and gold metallics. Every eyeshadow in this varies quality so I’ll tell you what I think of each of them.

  • Naked – This is a beige eyeshadow with a little bit of gold shimmer through it. It has a satin finish to it and it isn’t very pigmented. It’s not the best quality and isn’t impressive.
  • Devotion – This is a gold metallic colour which is very pigmented. For the price it is incredible and is comparable to higher end shadows.
  • Shy – Very simmilar to the first shade and is a beige eyeshadow. Again, it isn’t very pigmented and the quality isn’t very good. It is also quite chalky.
  • Fiery – This is a coppery amber metallic colour which is very pigmented; all of the metallics are. The pigments are really good and I like this eyeshadow alot.
  • Lavish – This matte and is quite good quality, exactly what you’d expect from an eyeshadow of that price. It is slightly chalky but it isn’t a huge issue.
  • Dreamy – This is another metallic eyeshadow and it is a bronze/gold shade. Like the other metallics, great quality.
  • Tranquil – This is a really nice shimmery champagne colour. It’s one of my favorite shades in this palette and has a nice amount of pigment.
  • Exposed – This is a cool toned grey/brown shade which is shimmery. Like the last one, it has a nice amount of pigment.
  • Reveal – This is a pale cool champagne colour and it has a shimmery finish. It’s pigment isn’t too intense but it’s still really nice.
  • Wink – It’s the last metallic in this palette and is a bronze/brown shade. It is really pigmented and is a nice shade.
  • Obsessed – This is a cool toned dark brown with a slight amount of shimmer. The amount of pigment is what you’d expect for the price but it’s slightly chalky.
  • Corrupt – This is a matte black and it is the worst eyeshadow I’ve ever come across. I don’t understand how it’s possible to make such a bad eyeshadow.

If you want a nice Christmasy eyeshadow palette this would be perfect. Some of the eyeshadows are amazing and I actually do really like this palette.

Youtube Made Me Buy It! – Part 1

Recently I’ve been seeing lots of people doing videos and blog posts called ‘Youtube Made Me Buy It.’ Basically, it’s talking about products you bought because of the hype on Youtube. I have quite alot so this is the first part. I hope you enjoy and let me know what Youtube made you buy.

The Urban Decay Naked palettes are massively hyped on Youtube and literally every Youtuber owns them all. I bought the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, £38.50, because of massive hype and I’m so glad I did. I bought the Naked 3 because I loved the look of the colours and I really like pinks on me. The pigmentation and blendablity of these shadows is increadible and they wear for such a long time. I get use from all but ‘Darkside’ which I just don’t like so much. There is a black, a white, a matte brown, a few shimmery browns, a matte pink, a few shimmery pinks and a shimmery copper colour. The shade ‘Blackheart’ is the best black eyeshadow ever, it’s matte with red micro glitters. Apart from that one, my favorite shades are ‘Liar,’ ‘Nooner’ and ‘Buzz.’ I personally think this is worth the hype, but only if you suit pinks and have the right skin tone and colour for these shades.

Another product from Urban Decay that was massively hyped was the eyeshadow primers. I bought the Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion, £18, having never tried an eyeshadow primer before. I was so impressed with how much more smoothly my eyeshadow went on, how much easier it was to blend out and how much longer it lasted. It applys transparent and dries that way too which I like. Then I tried the Urban Decay Original Eyeshadow Primer, £16, which I actually like alot more than the anti-aging one. It does everything the anti-aging one does but I just like it a bit more, I find it goes on better. I have Eden and Sin, ready to try and I’ll let you know my thoughts on them soon. What’s your favorite one?

When this mascara came out it was hyped so much, a main reason probably being its affordability. I gave into the hype of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, £7.99, pretty soon after the hype began. I’m so glad I did. I instantly started getting compliments on my lashes and it is probably the best mascara I’ve used. It volumises, thickens, lengthens and lifts the lashes and it never smudges. As well as the original formula, I have tried the waterproof one which literally will not come off. I’ve also tried the intense black formula which is my favorite as I like really black lashes. I have came to the conclusion that it’s the wand that makes it so good. It’s such an unusual wand and I can’t compare it to anything else. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

A foundation which everyone loves is the L’Oreal True Match Foundation, £9.99, which has recently been hyped loads but has been loved my the beauty community for years. I think the marketing and shade range of this is amazing but in general, I really dislike this foundation. I think the formula is rubbish and the coverage is awful, but it may just be my skin type. If you want a full review, I did one recently, just click here.

Makeup Look Under £30

Today I decided to do the makeup look for under £30 challange. And it really is a challange! I’ve managed to create something with as many products as I could but it took a while and came in at £29.15. I hope you enjoy and I challange you all to do this too!

I just had to use concealer especially because I couldn’t get a foundation cheap enough. I chose Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in ‘Fair,’ £4.19 because it is really high coverage. Next I’m using a multi tasking product, Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit in ‘Medium,’ £5.99 and I’m using the matte highlight as a powder and the matte contour shade for contour and bronzer. I also managed to fins the money to use my MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter in ‘Pink Shimmer,’ £3, which is my everyday highlighter and I love it!

I ended up using my Maybelline Master Shape Brow Pencil in ‘Dark Blonde,’ £2.99 which I use when I want more natural brows, and for a drugstore brow pencil it is really good quality. For eyeshadow I’m using one of my favorite drugstore palettes, the Collection Little Mix All About The Eyes Palette, £2.99 which has six shades, all great quality. I also just had to use mascara but I didn’t have any cheaper than my Max Factor 2000 Calorie Volumising Mascara in ‘Black,’ £7.99. And to finish the look, I’m using an old favorite of mine, Makeup Revolution Lipstick in ‘Nude,’ £1 which is a beautiful colour.

Autumn/Fall Makeup Must Haves

I’m going to be sharing with you what some of my Autumn makeup must haves are. Generally the lips get less pink, the eye colours get warmer and I love black liquid eye liner. Let me know what some of your Autumnal makeup must haves are.

Face:
I think it’s the shimmer and the not too Summery looking bronze colour that makes Seventeen Instant Glow Shimmer Brick in ‘Pink Glow’ one of my go to products through out Autumn. And I also feel like Autumn is the most appropriate season for blusher, and I love Collection Blush in ‘Bashful’ because of it’s dusky rose pink colour.

Eyes:
As I said, I love black liquid liner kn the Autumn and my favorite has to be L’Oreal Super Liner Black Laquer Waterproof because it is so easy to use. I also love adding a bit of colour sometimes with my AVON Glimmerstick Diamonds Eye Liner in ‘Emerald Glow’ which is so easy to blend if you want. I love the colours in the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (‘Factory’ & ‘Mugshot’ specifically); it’s my go to. In addition to that, the Stila In The Moment Palette (‘Wonder’ & ‘Whim’ are especially Autumnal) are perfect.

Lips:
A colour I’ve not worn in ages because of it’s not so Summery vibe is Clinique Colour Pop Lipstick in ‘Nude Pop’ however it’s great for Autumn. One I’ve been waiting for Autumn to get use out of is NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in ‘Abu Dhabi’ and I’m excited to be using MAC Matte Lipstick in ‘Honeylove’ more often. My only non-nude lip product (sorry!) is Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in ‘Raplumzel’ which is a beautiful purple. And lastly my new and probably all time favorite gloss, No7 BB Lips Beauty Balm in ‘Ballerina.’

Nails
Barry M Hi-Shine Gelly Nail Paint in ‘Chai’ is one of my favorite greys. I also can’t wait to start wearing reds again and two of my favorites are Revlon Nail Enamel in ‘Revlon Red,’ which is a classic red, and also Revlon Nail Enamel in ‘Raven Red’ which is slightly darker and more purple in tone. I also love Ciaté Paint Pots in ‘Gold Digga’ for a gold metalic and for something more natural I love Ciaté Paint Pots in ‘Golden Sands.’

Fragrance:
I love Chanel No5 Eau De Toilette and to me it smells alot more appropriate for Autumn and Winter. Another favorite of mine is Vera Wang Lovestruck Eau De Parfum which is a little more day time appropriate and less strong than Chanel No5.

My Top 5 Eyeshadow Palettes

Here are my top five eyeshadow palettes, enjoy!

‘Stila, In The Moment Palette,’ £25
This palette is the most beautiful beauty item I have ever seen. The colours look (and are) incredible, with some colourful and fun, but easy to wear colours and some gorgeous nutrals witch are so wearable. You can create so many incredible day and night, colourful and nutral looks with this. But, it isn’t all about the looks, the eyeshadows themselves are exceptional. They have great pigmentation, they last all day without budging a bit, and they look just as incredible on the eyes as in the packaging. The bonus of this palette is that it comes with one of their ‘Smudgestick Waterproof Eyeliners’ which itself, would cost £14. If you need a palette that can create loads of different makeup looks, this would be a great investment to make.

image

‘Urban Decay, Naked Basics Palette,’ £23
This palette is all you would ever need to create numerous gorgeous natural and basic looks. It has six essential nutral colours which are stunning. The palette is very basic, but it has a sense of luxuary to it which I love. These are very wearable and you could even create a dark smokey eye with these so you can take your look from day to night. These eyeshadows are super pigmented, possibly the best quality eyeshadows I’ve ever used. The palette is small and sturdy, so it is the best thing for travel. It also has a good mirror to make it easy to use on the go. If you are starting out with makeup, or need a practical but luxurious travel palette, I would recommend you go for this one.

image

‘MUA, Undress Me Too Palette,’ £4
The opposite end from the previous two, but still exceptional. This has an erray of soft nutrals, cool greys, and stunning gold metallics, so you can create so many different looks. The packaging is quite sturdy and strong so it can easily be traveled with. The quality of these eyeshadows for the price, is incredible. They are very pigmented, especially the darker, shimmery ones. I would recommend this to anyone, but especially to someone who is just starting out with makeup, and wants to try out different shades and colours.

image

‘Collection, Little Mix All About The Eyes,” £2.99
Again, this one is right down there with the under £5’s. It has six basic nutral colours which are all quite different so you can create many different looks. The palette reminds me of the Naked Basics with the six basic colours; but this isn’t ideal for travelling wirh because of the packaging. The quality of these are incredible and they are comparable to higher-end eyeshadows. I would recommend this little palette to all and you should pick it up next time you have a little spend in the drugstore.

image

‘Rimmel, Glam’eyes Quad – 001 Smokey Noir,’ £6.99
This isn’t very big, but it still is technically still a palette. It has four smokey colours, including a black and white. This is the perfect little palette to use for creating a smokey eye and is great for on the go. The quality of these eyeshadows is great and the packaging is good quality. These come on so many different colours so if this colour isn’t for you, you can pick up a nutral one or a brighter one. Deffinetly pick one of these up next time you can.
