Beauty Haul: April 2017

Today I thought I would share with you what I’ve been buying recently in another beauty haul. I seem to do these quite a lot but I really enjoy writing these posts and you seem to enjoy them too. I have actually tried all of these products now (I’m writing this a while after I’ve bought them) so I’ll also give you a brief review/first impressions on each of them but if I have a full review coming, it’ll say. Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products, tell me what I should buy next and I hope you enjoy.

Kokostar Foot Peeling Pack, £8 – I have wanted to buy a foot peeling pack for a long time and when I saw this in Urban Outfitters I had to buy it. Honestly, it’s probably the best thing I’ve ever purchased. After about a week all of my skin had peeled off my feet and they feel brand new. I also got one of these for my mum and she loved it too. I’d highly recommend these, they really do work. I will have a full review on this up in the middle of May.

Burt’s Bees Hydrating Lip Balm with Coconut & Pear, £3.69 – You may know that Burt’s Bees lip balms are my all time favourite lip balms and so I always have to have at least two in case I loose one of them. I had never tried this particular one (I usually stick to the original – my favourite) but I really like it. The scent is nice, not too overpowering and these lip balms are 100% too. I’ve you’ve never tried one, I’d recommend that you do.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Transparent,’ £3.99 – This is my favourite powder and the only one that I’ll use so I was repurchasing it as I have to do ever month or two. I intended on getting the shade ‘Peach Glow’ but they didn’t have that so I just got the ‘Transparent’ shade as that obviously works for everyone. This powder just sets my makeup into place all day and keeps my oily skin shine free for hours. I love it and I highly recommend it.

20170325_102929

Bourjois Air Mat Foundation in ‘Rose Ivory,’ £9.99 – I went to repurchase my favourite foundation (Rimmel Wake Me Up) but they didn’t have it in my shade so I just went over to the Bourjois stand as I’ve heard great things about their products and grabbed this one with out looking at the shade or anything. Luckily it is a good colour match and I do really like it. I have a full review of this coming towards the end of June (I have a lot planned) but in the meantime, if you have oily skin, this is a great option.

St Ives Blemish Fighting Apricot Scrub, £4.19 – I went to buy my favourite exfoliator (Garnier Skin Active) and they didn’t have it (I was clearly having a really lucky night!). So, I just had to find an alternative, also containing salicylic acid and I saw this. I’ve also heard that Gigi Hadid uses this so I thought I may as well just try it. I can say that it is amazing and I saw a notable difference in my skin. I’d recommend this and I’ll have a review up in the middle of May.

20170325_102824

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, £1.99/125ml, £7.99/700ml – I love this, it’s the best micellar water I’ve ever tried. I bought the small one for travelling with and I thought I may as well by the large one just for backup. It just gets my makeup off really well and I’d recommend that you try this if you haven’t already.

La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Anti-Shine SPF50, £16.50 – I needed an SPF50 moisturiser and after doing quite a lot of research, I decided to buy this one. It’s a great SPF (I didn’t get burnt once and there is no tan on my face) but not only did it protect my skin from the sun, it really did reduce the amount of oil on my face. It is the best product I’ve ever used for oily skin and that is a bold statement to make. I couldn’t recommend this enough and there will be a review up in the middle of May.

MAC Amplified Lipstick in ‘Blankety,’ £16.50 – A holiday is not complete without buying a MAC lipstick in duty free. I knew I wanted to get ‘Blankety’ as I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and I wanted an everyday, wearable nude shade that was quite shiny yet fully pigmented. It’s such a good shade and would work well for a lot of skin tones. It would also go with any makeup look, for day or night and I’m really glad I now have this shade in my collection.

Beauty Haul – January 2017

I’m going to be doing another beauty haul which is really exciting. These are all things that I bought before Christmas but I’ll be doing another beauty haul at the start of February showing you what I bought with some of my Christmas money. I’ll give you a review on the things I’ve already tried (which I think is everything), let you know why I bought them etc. I really hope you enjoy this post and let me know what beauty items I should buy next.

MAC Cleansing Oil, £21 – I just thought I’d give this a try because I want to start investing more in my skincare this year. Obviously it’s an oil but it’s a lot messier than I thought it would be – there was oil everywhere which was probably user error, I always make such a mess. Anyway, it wasn’t what I expected really. It isn’t the best makeup remover I’ve ever tried. I haven’t used it very many times so I can’t give my full opinion yet (when I’m finished it I will) but I think my Garnier Micellar Water is better and it’s only a quarter of the price. I think I do regret buying this but let me know if you have this and let me know what you think of it.

MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Viva Glam II,’ £15.50 – I decided I wanted another MAC lipstick annoyingly straight after I uploaded my MAC lipstick collection (well done!) so I went into MAC and had a look at the lipsticks. I planned on getting ‘Yash’ but after seeing it in person I came to the conclusion that I really didn’t like it. I was then really undecided on whether to get this or ‘Velvet Teddy.’ In the end I decided to get this based on the fact that it’s a Viva Glam lipstick and the full proceeds go to the MAC AIDS Fund. It is such a pretty colour which is a light/medium nude/mauve colour which has a touch of pink in it. It’s really pretty and suits my neutral pale beige skin tone really well. It’s also a satin finish (one of my favorites from MAC) so it’s very opaque, long lasting but not drying in the slightest.

Aloe Pura Aloe Vera Gel with Tea Tree, £5.69 – I bought this after I heard Kathleen Lights talking about how much aloe vera helped her skin in this video. I also did quite a bit of research before buying it to see exactly how it worked and what benefits it had etc. so if you are considering buying it I’d recommend that you do a little bit of research too. I’m going to do a whole post on it in about a months time (so if you’d like to see that make sure your following me) so I won’t go into to much detail at the moment. I will say that I think it has made a difference to my skin but do note that my skin isn’t too bad, I only have a couple of small breakouts per week.

Maybelline Baby Lips in ‘Mint Candy,’ £2.99 – It was actually my sister who bought me this but I thought I’d include it anyway as it is something new that I got. I never really got the hype about the Baby Lips lip balms until I tried this particular one. They all have a really nice creamy, moisturising and hydrating formula but I just love this one a lot. It looks like a very pale pink colour and when I have makeup on and my face has more colour to it is very true to colour and gives a really pretty wash of colour. However when I have no makeup on and I look paler it is colourless which I don’t have an issue with as when I have no makeup on I don’t want to have any colour on my lips. I really like this and I’d recommend it.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Peach Glow,’ £3.99 – If you know anything about me, you’ll know that I love this powder and I literally could not live without it. Okay, maybe I could live but I certainly couldn’t do my makeup! I won’t go on about it too much as I feel like I talk about it all the time but if you’ve not already tried this I would highly recommend that you do. It just sets my makeup and keeps my oily skin completely shine free for about 5 hours. I just love this and will forever repurchase it, it’s just the best.

Boots Tea Tree & Which Hazel 6 Nose Pore Strips, £4.99 – I got these to remove the dirt and oil etc. from the pores on my nose (obviously). These do not work. I followed all of the directions on the back of the box and the just do not work. I have tried them multiple times and not once have they removed anything from more than ten pores. I wouldn’t recommend these but let me know if they work for you and let me know if you know of any nose pore strips which actually work.

My Winter Morning Routine 2017

Today I’m going to be sharing my current Winter morning routine. I had never really thought about doing a morning or evening routine before so I really hope you enjoy this. Also please let me know what moisturiser you use and what skin type you have as I’m looking for a new moisturiser. Also let me know what kind of content you’d like to see from me in 2017 and I’ll do my best to do everything.

As I’ve not been having to get up for school I’ve been going to bed a lot later than usual and so I’ve been getting up at about 10am as oppose to 6:40am. When I wake up I’ll usually just lie in bed for half an hour or so on my phone just checking Snapchat, Facebook etc. and then I go and get some breakfast. I’ll usually have some whole wheat cereal with some light Greek yoghurt and a bit of honey. I’ll also have some fruit, which is normally an apple and sometimes some berries. To drink I’ll have two pints of water and a cup of decaf green tea with jasmine.

After I’ve had breakfast I’ll go in the shower and get washed but on this particular day I’ll be washing my hair (I wash my hair once or twice a week). I’m going to be using my favorite shampoo which is the Bleach London Silver Shampoo and I’ll wash my hair with that twice. I really love this shampoo as it is quite strong and it really tones my hair and helps me maintain my natural ashy tone. I then use the conditioner to go with that which is obviously the Bleach London Silver Conditioner which I apply to the mid-lengths and ends of my hair. I keep that in my hair for a couple of minutes while I shave etc. and then before I wash it out of my hair I brush it through with the Tresemme Ceramic Styling Brush which is waterproof just to make sure my hair doesn’t have any knots in it.

Then when I get out of the shower I put on my dressing gown and then I like to brush my teeth before doing my morning skincare routine. The first thing I do is wet my face before I use the Garnier Pure Active Anti-Blackhead Pore Wash which I really do find unblocks my pores and therefor prevents blackheads. Also the fact that it contains salicylic acid makes it perfect for acne prone/oily skin as it removes oil without stripping the skin and prevents breakouts. I then like to apply some Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Toner which is also great for preventing breakouts. Lastly I like to apply some moisturiser and the one I use is E45 Cream which is prefect for dry skin but as I mentioned I’m looking for a new moisturiser so please leave your recommendations. To finish things off I like to apply a bit of lip balm and at the minute I’ve been obsessed with the Maybelline Baby Lips in ‘Mint Candy.’

Now is the time when I like to do my makeup which is my favorite part of my morning routine. I recently did a post on my every day makeup routine so you can click here for that. However there are couple of things that I’m doing differently today. I’ve finally gotten round to repurchasing my favorite powder which is Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Peach Glow’ and my makeup is instantly looking better again – I really don’t recommend the Collection powder I was using as my face powder in that post! I did my eyeshadow exactly as I did in that post but I decided to use the shade ‘Wonder’ from the Stila In The Moment Palette as my lid colour. I also did my lips differently. I used the MUA Lip Liner in ‘Caramel Nougat’ as the lip liner I used in the other post is blunt and I can’t find my sharpener anywhere (they are almost identical anyway). I also used my newest lipstick which is MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Viva Glam II’ which is a medium mauve/nude with a little bit of pink in it – it’s a gorgeous colour.

The final part of my winter morning routine is choosing my outfit which is usually a difficult process and I often get changed quite a few times until I am satisfied with my outfit. Today I’m wearing my Forever 21 Black Crop Jumper which I feel like I wear all the time. I’m also wearing my H&M Black Jeggings and the shoes I’m wearing are my Topshop Leather Chelsea Boots which are my favorite boots ever – I just wear them all the time. I’m wearing my Boohoo Black Cape which my sister got me for Christmas and I also wore my Maya Copenhagen Faux Fur Stole which my sister also got me. The handbag I’m using is my Jasper Conran Leather Black Grab Bag which is the handbag that I use on a daily basis.

2016 Beauty Favorites – Hair Care, Nails & Fragrance

This is going to be the third and final part of my 2016 beauty favorites. I’ve already covered the categories of makeup in part 1 and then skin care and body care in part 2. In this part I’ll be talking about my favorite hair care, nail products and fragrance. I’m going to talk about each of the products quite in depth so you can see if you’d like any of the products. I really hope you enjoy this and let me know what some of your favorite products have been.

Hair Care

  • Bleach London Silver Shampoo & Conditioner, £5 each – I always use silver shampoos and conditioners which tone blonde, platinum and grey hair and take away brassy/golden tones. I use all different silver shampoos and conditioners, I like to mix them up a bit but if I had to only use one it would be this one. It is the strongest one I have found and it gives me brighter hair which is great as my hair is quite dull. It also helps me keep my perfect ashy blonde colour which I do naturally have but I like my hair to be as ashy as possible. The shampoo lathers really well which is really important for me and the conditioner is a great thick consistency. These last me for about five months and I wash my hair about twice a week.
  • L’Oréal Elivive Extraordinary Clay Re-Balancing Shampoo & Conditioner, £3.50 each – This shampoo and conditioner are especially for oily roots and dry end which is exactly what I have so I thought I’d give this a try. I’m not sure exactly how it works but it contains three refined clays which must somehow do something to purify the roots and hydrated the ends. It says it keeps the scalp purified for 72 hours and usually these claims are false but I actually agree with it. I’d recommend anyone with oily roots and dry end to try this as it honestly works. A 400ml bottle would probably last me about nine months but I share it with my Mum so we go through it a bit quicker.
  • Batiste Dry Shampoo Original – Clean & Classic, £4.99 – Dry shampoo has been a huge part of my hair routine for years, like about seven years, and I honestly could not live without it. There are obviously so many different formulations and scents of this specific dry shampoo but I find that the original one works best for me. I find that it is a lot more powdery so it absorbs any oil and it volumises my hair so much. So even if you just want something to volumise your hair, try this. It keeps my hair clean for so long, I can go up to a week without washing my hair. I love this so much.
  • Boots Bendy Rollers, £5 – If you don’t know what bendy rollers are, google it so you have a clue what I’m talking about it. I love having wavy/curly hair so much but having to use a curling iron all the time is time consuming and it obviously damages your hair a lot overtime. I put four of these into my hair (you get eight in a pack) at night which takes a few minutes and sleep with them in which can be slightly uncomfortable but it doesn’t bother me too much. In the morning I take them out and my hair is nicer than it would be if I had used a curling iron. I have very soft hair so curls usually drop out but if I just use a bit of hairspray they last all day. These are amazing as it takes so much less time and they are completely heatless.

Nails

  • Nails Inc Multivitamin Nail Polish in ‘Queensbury,’ £14.50 – I bought this nail polish as it is the most gorgeous colour. It’s a pale pink colour but it’s not too pink (if that makes any sense – it doesn’t, sorry!) and it’s just my perfect colour. Nails Inc nail polishes are the best quality for the price and they are probably one of my favorite nail brands ever. The nail polish just applies so well and so smoothly and even for this paler colour you only need two coats or three if you want it to be really opaque. Even if this isn’t the shade for you they have so many different shades which you might like. If you want to see my top 5 neutral nail varnishes click here.

  • Nails Inc The Optic Collection in ‘Optic Wave,’ £14.50 – This was a limited edition colour which I don’t believe you can get anymore so I’m sorry but I love it so much so I just had to include it. They will also have many similar shades in their permanent line. Anyway, this is a mint green shade and mint green is one of my favorite colours. The formula is amazing as all Nails Inc formulas are and it is my go to shade especially in the Spring/Summer.
  • Ciate Paint Pots in ‘Golden Sands,’ £12 – I love Ciate nail polishes so much and they are amazing quality and just apply so well. This colour is very natural and I would describe it as a pale/medium nude brown. It is one of those colours which is just perfect for any occasion as it is so neutral and it isn’t too much. It could also be worn in any season so when it’s inbetween seasons and I’m nt sure what colour to wear I’ll just wear this. It would also suit almost anyone, it’s perfect.

  • Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in ‘Grapefruit,’ £3.99 – This is a bit of a price difference from the other two but for the price it is honestly amazing. I’d actually say that I like this formula of nail varnish as much as the others, maybe it’s slightly less long lasting but that’s not really an issue. As the name would suggest, it is a shiny formula which looks really nice on the nails. The colour is a bright pink that isn’t too blue toned which I love. It is the perfect Summer colour which I live in for the whole season. If you want to see my top 5 pink nail varnishes click here.
  • Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in ‘Blueberry,’ £3.99 – I think the fact that I’m mentioning another of these shows how much I really do love this formula of nail polish. This is one of my favorite nail varnish shades of all time. It is a medium blue colour and it is the prettiest shade ever especially for Spring/Summer as it is kind of a pastel colour but a but a bit darker. Whenever I wear this I get so many compliments and everyone asks me what it is. I just love this and it’s such a unique shade.

Fragrance

  • Chanel No5 Eau De Toilette Purse Spray, £75.50 – My Gran very kindly got me this at the started of this year. No5 is a very grown up scent but it’s such a lovely scent and I think it could be worn by almost anyone of any age. It is also a purse spray so it comes with that and two extra refills (they are 20ml each) so it is perfect for travelling with and for just throwing in my handbag without worrying about it breaking. I just love this scent so much and I use it very sparingly as it is so expensive.
  • Vera Wang Lovestruck Eau De Parfum, £50 – I got this last Christmas from my parents and I love this scent so much. It says it contains pink guava, mandarin, tuberose and lotus blossom but to me it’s surprisingly not as floral as that makes it sound. I really like this scent and I’d say it’s perfect for teenagers and young adults as it is quite grown up but still really girly. It’s something I’ll have to put on my birthday list as it’s almost finished.

Christmas Day GRWM

Yesterday it was Christmas Day – I had the best Christmas and I really hope all of you did too. I thought today I would do a Christmas Day GRWM including hair, makeup, outfit. I hope you enjoy this and let me know what your favorite part of Christmas Day was.

After a quick shower I used some Soap & Glory Righteous Body Butter to maintain my Dove Derma Spa Summer Revived Light/Medium Tan. I then moved on to my morning skincare routine which is very basic. I like to wash and exfoliate my skin with my Garnier Pure Active Anti-Blackhea Deep Pore Wash to make sure my makeup applies well. I then moisturise my skin using my E45 Cream but I’m looking for a new moisturiser so leave your recommendations please.

Now moving on to hair. From the night before I had put in my Boots Bendy Rollers. For my hair, I only used 4 which left me with the perfect curls. If you curl your hair alot like me, then these are perfect as they don’t damage your hair. After brushing them through I made sure that I sprayed my hair with some L’Oreal Elvive Satin Normal Strength Hairspray to ensure that they lasted all day as my hair is quite sleek and curls tend to drop out quickly.

I then did my makeup. I feel like I’m constantly going over my foundation routine so if you’re interested, click HERE to see it. After all of that, I did my eyebrows using the L’Oreal Brow Artist Genius Kit in ‘Light/Medium’ using the wax to define the arch and powder to fill them in (to see my full eyebrow routine, click HERE). I then contoured using the Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit in ‘Medium’ and bronzed my face with the L’Oreal Glam Bronze Bronzing Powder in ‘Caribbean Sun.’ I then added some highlighter using the MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter in ‘Pink Shimmer’ (please let me know of any good highlighters – I’m stuck on what one to get!).

I primed my eyes with the Urban Decay Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion and the shade ‘Nooner’ from the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. I used my contour shade in the crease and then applied the shade ‘Liar’ from the same palette on the eyelid. I used the shade ‘Factory’ under the eye and smudged the shade ‘Blackheart’ along the upper lash line. I added some of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in ‘Black’ to my eyelashes – it’s my favorite mascara.
I prepped my lips for lipstick with the Burt’s Bees Original Lip Balm and then lined them with the Model Co Illusion Lip Liner. For lipstick, I decided to go with a mauve/nude shade with a hint of pink so I used MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Viva Glam II.’

I wore my Moss Copenhagen Silver Sparkle Skirt which is perfect for the festive season. With that I wore my H&M Black Crop Top which is really plain and simple so it was perfect to pair with the skirt. I had on a pair of black tights as it’s freezing which were either from Primark or Calvin Klein. I just wore my Topshop Keeper Leather Chelsea Boots which are just really easy to wear with anything. The perfume I used was Chanel No5.

What’s In My Topshop Bag?

I’ve recently been using a bag from Topshop which I’ve had for a couple of years now and I’ve been really enjoying using it. Earlier this week I found that I had a 2015 diary in it – shows how long I haven’t used it for! I thought I’d share with you what I have in it, which isn’t too much as it’s quite a little bag – it’s actually a nice break from carrying around a bigger handbag!

My Phone – When I’m out I obviously always have my phone with me, who doesn’t?

My Purse – My purse is from Joules and it’s really small, just a coin purse. Inside I have a couple of pounds, my bus pass, my student card, my boots advantage card and my superdrug beauty card.

Makeup Bag – I have a small Jack Wills Makeup Pouch containing a Burt’s Bees Pomegranate Oil Lip Balm, my Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder, my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and my Real Techniques Multi Task Brush.

Other things – Vaseline, NYX Butter Gloss in ‘Fourtune Cookie,’ a (very old!) cherry Chapstick and an Alpen Light Apple & Sultana Breakfast Bar.

Beauty Products That I’ve Actually Used Up

Today I’m going to be sharing with you some of the beauty products that I’ve totally used up. I did a post on the makeup products I’ve used up and you all seemed to really like it so I thought I’d do a simmilar one covering a wider range of products. I hope you all enjoy!

One of my must have beauty items is Batiste Dry Shampoo Tropical, (£2.99 per 200ml). I have tried so many brands and this for me is by far the best one. It does go into darker hair quite light so it needs brushing through but in my blonde hair, the majority of the time I can’t see it. I must have used up more than 40 of these over the years and needless to say, I’m currently using one.

I think my signature scent is Chanel No5 Eau de Parfum Handbag Size, (£75.50 3 x 20ml). I’ve used one of the 20ml bottles up which I think has lasted me seven or eight months as the scent is strong. I’m not even going to try to describe the scent but it’s the kind of scent that would suit anyone. I’ve moved onto another bottle of this as I need this in my life!

I have used up a whole bottle of Tresemme Colour Thrive Illuminating Blonde Shampoo (£5.99 for 750ml) and the matching conditoner, Tresemme Colour Thrive Illumimating Blonde Conditioner (£5.99 for 750ml). Now that I think about it, these have lasted me over a year which is insane. The only thing is, for months now I’ve been looking for these everywhere and I think they’ve been discontinued. Let me know if they have been!

I’ve used up one of what I think is my favorite body butters ever. I love Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream (£10 for 300ml) because it’s so moisturising and hydrating on the skin. It has such as nice fresh citrus scent which is lovley. I’m currently using another bodu butter from Soap & Glory – their products in general are just amazing.

One of my must have skin care products is Boots Tea Tree & Which Hazel Cleansing & Toning Lotion (£3.59 for 150ml). It is perfect for oily/combination and acne prone skin as it helps clear up and prevent breakouts. I must have gone through at least 15 of these and I will continue to do so.
