My Top 5 Pink Nail Varnishes

Here are my top five pink nail varnishes…

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in ‘Royal Blush,’ £9.99
I bought this nail varnish about a year ago, because I felt like (really didn’t) I need yet another pink nail varnish. I find myself wearing this colour alot, as it is pretty and understated, so it’s perfect for everyday wear, but it’s also really chic, so is perfect for other events too. It is a very pale blush pink colour with slightly peachy undertones. It would suit people with pale skin like myself, but also a wide range of colours. I can imagine it looking good with a tan, but I never have one. The formula of Sally Hansen nail varnishes is one of my favorites. They are thick, yet not to thick, so they’re easy to apply, and last around a week; totally worth the money! I would recommend this to everyone, it’s perfect.

L’Oreal Color Riche in ‘So Chic Pink,’ £4.99
I bought this during a big crazy shopping spree, and I’m so glad I did. I wear this all throughout Spring and Summer, as it is quite a bright, fun, yet super chic colour. It is a bright coral pink, it’s so beautiful! It would suit pretty much anyone, although if you have super pale skin, it may look a bit odd. The formula of L’Oreal nail varnishes is amazing, one of my favorites actually. The packaging is small, and doesn’t waste any space, so these are my go to nail varnishes when traveling. These wear perfectly for around four to seven days, and I would recommend this so much.

L’Oreal Color Riche in ‘Shocking Pink,’ £4.99
I bought this in the same mad shopping spree as the one before, and it also turned out to be a favorite of mine. I wear this one during Spring and Summer aswell and it looks beautiful. It is a bright blue toned pink, which looks amazing on my pale cool skin tone, but would look really odd on some people. I can imagine this looking amazing on really dark skin, even better than on pale skin actually. As I said I love the formula of these alot, and they last from a few days to a week without chipping. I’d recommend this one to someone with pale to medium cool skin, and even more so to someone with darker skin.

Avon Gel Finish Nail Enamel in ‘Dazzel Pink,’ $7.00 (about £4.83)
I bought fourteen of these a couple of months ago, and I’ve fallen in love with this one inparticular. It is a pretty pale colour so is super wearable, so I wear it anytime, for any occasion. The colour is a pale pastel pink, which is slightly shimmery, and blue toned. It suits cool and neutral pale skin tones, but wouldn’t suit many people. The formula of these is really nice, you only need two coats and goes on easily, although I will say it only lasts two to four days. Never the less I would highly recommend to those with paler skin.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in ‘Grapefruit,’ £3.99
I bought this last Summer, when I was doing a big crazy shop (I do alot of them, don’t I?). I bought over a neutral nail varnish, and I LOVE neutrals. I constantly have this on in the Summer and it’s perfect for any occasion. It is what I would describe as a Summer pink (helpful, I know), my perfect pink. It is a bright, classic Barbie pink. I can imagine this would suit anyone, and I mean, anyone. Barry M nail varnishes are my all time favorite, and my favorite formula are the Gelly ones. I own nearly all of them! The last for about five days to a week, and look amazing. I would so highly recommend these, you have to try them.

The Best Mascara Ever?!

I have a love hate relationship with mascara. I love what it does, and the difference it makes in not just your eyes, but your whole face. But I (sometimes) really can’t be botherd with it, and with every mascara I’ve ever tried I’ve either hated it, or liked it for a while, then hated it.

This mascara however, I love. It has been a love hate, on and off relationship, but I’ve come to the conclusion that I love it; not only that, but it’s my favorite mascara ever, and I’ve pretty much tried them all.

image

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara has been hyped over since it’s release not too long ago. Alot of people (myself included) don’t give into hypes, and I normally wouldn’t, but this is something increadible. So if you havn’t already, you must try this.

There are three formulas, all of which have been carefully tried and tested by myself. The original, the waterproof, and the intense black. They are all different, but all leave you with the same amazing lashes. I think it’s the brush that really does it for me; it’s so unique and you won’t find one quite like it anywhere else.

image

The intense black formula is my personal favorite. It is a proper black mascara (I want my mascara black, not grey, charcoal or brown) which is actually difficult to find. Eventhough it isn’t waterproof, it holds the curl and doesn’t budge.

Simillarly, the original formula, holds curl, and doesn’t go anywhere but your eyelashes throughout the day. For me, I find this not to be black enough, but if you like the not as intense black (aka charcoal) colour, go for it.

image

The waterproof formula is also increadible, but for me, it’s to waterproof (I know it sounds silly). It holds an amazing curl and is really waterproof, but doesn’t do anything the others don’t. I would think the other two were waterproof if I didn’t know otherwise. In terms of colour, it is blacker than the original, but not as black as the intense black. If you live in a hot climate, this would be the best option.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara, £7.99.

Yes, it is the best mascara in the world.

Everyday Handbag Beauty Essentials

These are my everyday handbag beauty essentials. I carry these products about with me everyday and I never find myself wishing I had something else with me. What are your everyday beauty essentials?

image

I use this Jack Wills makeup pouch to carry all of my products. For me it is the perfect size, and fits everything in well. It is amazing quality and I really like the design too – it’s super cute! One of my favorite things about it is actaually the orange zip, because it adds a pop of colour to the monochrome colours.

image

The thing I find myself reaching for the most is my Rimmel stay matte pressed powder. It sets your makeup so that it lasts longer, and gets rid of any shine. I also love my L’Oreal glam bronze bronzing powder because without it, my face looks flat and I look slighly grey because of my neutral skin tone! I need a brush which applys both of these products well, and the one that I find does that is my Real Techniques multi task brush. This can be used for foundation, powder, bronzer, blusher, contour and highlighter, so obviously it’s the perfect brush.

image

Another thing I think everyone needs to have with them just incase is a concealer. You never know when a blemish will apear, or a bit of redness will become noticable, so I always carry around Rimmel wake me up concealer. The next must have is my Burt’s Bees pomegranate lip balm because when I have dry lips, I can’t think about anything else! I love Burt’s Bees the most because it’s all natural and they are so moisturising.

image

And lastly I always think a lip colour should be close at hand. You never know when you’ll need to dress up your look a bit, and I find that a lip product always ties the look together perfectly. I rotate between different ones, but recently I’ve been loving MAC matte lipstick in the shade ‘Honeylove.’ It’s the perfect nude, and if you want something simillar that makes a statement, I’d recommend ‘Velvet Teddy.’

Is This My Year?

So today I thought I’d do more of a chatty post, just to talk to you guys on a more personal level, and discuss a few things. I hope you enjoy this – Let me know if you do or don’t! Also leave some comments so we can get chatting!

At the start of every year, like nearly everyone, I have a short ‘phase’ where I’m totally motivated and ready to do anything. That ‘phase’ usually lasts for about four days to a week, then it’s back to reality. This year it’s gone on, and I still feel ready to face the world nearly every single day (we all have a bad day, sometimes even week). I’ve started to care less, and over all, I feel like a much happier person; this year has been great so far.

Another thing everyone does (well nearly everyone), is make new years resolutions. You may have seen in my resolutions post, that I set a goal for each month. Januarys goal was to work out every day. I probably work out four to six times a week, so I’ve not done too badly. Februarys goal was to be nicer to people… I guess I’ve done OK-ish! My goal for March was to not eat chocolate or sweets, which is achieved on most days. And this months goal, April, was to write/speak about feelings of anger, which I havn’t done.

This year is going to be so exciting for me and I have some amazing things planned! I’m going to Normandy for five days, then Paris for five days. I’m going with some of my best friends, and it will bring some amazing posts. Also on the topic of travel, I’m going to Majorca for seven days, with my family, which will also bring amazing blogging oppertunities. That’s all the travel I have planned, but there will possibly be trips to London, Amsterdam, and some British islands too. I have some events to go to aswell, but you’ll have to wait to find out what they are!

I also want to ask what you guys want to see from this blog. If you have any requests please let me know. If you want to know my opinion on anything also let me know. Leave comments to tell me what you thought; it would be much appreiciated, and I’ll make sure I reply.

Talking About Periods – An International Investigation

On the 1st of March (a while ago, I know!), I got an email from Clue with the subject being “5,000 Ways To Say “Period,””

I read on and discover they had done an amazing international investigation back in November, to find out why the world feels the way it does about periods.

90,000 People Responded!!

You can explore the results for yourself; they were really interesting to see, and eye opening.

The whole investigation started because periods are a health reality for 50% of the world’s population, but the menstrual cycle is often not discussed – because of cultural discomfort, social customs or simply lack of information about the topic. Clue wanted to find out why…

… And with the help of the International Women’s Health Coalition (an advocacy group in New York which is a voice for the health and rights of women), and 90,000 women responding, they now have one of the largest surveys on period perceptions in the world.

They asked a few questions on period perceptions, to women from more than 190 countries. The results are really interesting, you have to have a look!

Clue also have an amazing period tracker app, which I have beifly mentioned before. It is free of charge, easy to use, and really helpful. It is a must have app.
