Tenerife 2017

At the start of April I went to Tenerife for a week and I thought it would be nice to share with you a bit about my trip. Let me know if you’ve been to Tenerife and what you thought, let me know where you’re travelling to this year and I hop you enjoy this post.

I had been to Tenerife before in October of 2015 and to be quite honest, I really didn’t like it at all. For this reason I wasn’t really looking forward to going but I actually really enjoyed it this time – it was a completely different experience. I went to Los Cristianos which is a large town in the South West of the island. In the town there are a lot of hotels but there are also a lot of flats where locals live which I prefer as oppose to a tourist resort. The beaches were nice too but it was far too cold to swim in the sea in April (it didn’t stop a lot of people though!). The temperatures were between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius during the day which was nice. It also felt really safe and secure in the area which was really good. I will definitely go back there as it was such a nice holiday.

Space NK Skincare Sample Reviews

A few months ago now I made an order from Space NK. When you make an order, you get to choose three free samples and I decided to go for all skincare samples as I wanted to discover some new skincare products. I’ve finally used them all and I thought it might be nice to share my thoughts on them and whether I want to repurchase them or not. I hope you enjoy this and find it helpful and make sure to let me know if you’ve tried any of these products.

REN Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial, £32
I had never tried anything from REN before but I’ve heard really good things about the brand so I thought that this would be a good thing to try. You are meant to put it on your skin overnight and it is supposed to ‘leave skin visibly brighter, more luminous, refined and even-toned by morning.’ It gives a 3-phase treatment while you sleep and I have to say I’m a bit confused as to how that works so you can read about it yourself. The sample I used only had 2ml in it and surprisingly I managed to get two uses out of it. I used it on two consecutive nights and to be perfectly honest I didn’t see or feel any difference. It was probably because I only used quite a small amount and I only used it twice. This would probably be a great product for non-teen skin. So pretty much for anyone over the age of twenty or more normal skin just because of it’s consistency. If you’ve tried this let me know your thoughts and I’d definitely buy this product if my skin was more normal – if you have normal skin, I’d recommend it to you.

Rodial X-treme Acid Rush Peel, £85
Again, I’d never tried anything from Rodial but I’ve always wanted as even though the products are expensive, they look really good and like they actually work so I was excited to try this. This is a resurfacing facial peel which is meant to revive the look of skin. The acids in it exfoliate and retexture the skin which reduces the appearance of imperfections. It also claims to leave the skin clear and with a youthful glow. In this sample there was only 1ml so I didn’t think it would even cover half of my face; however, I was wrong, it generously covered my whole face (and I thought I had a big face!). I have to agree with the fact that it leaves your skin quite luminous, renewed and imperfection free. Even though I did only use it once I definitely think that if you used it frequently it would transform your skin. It is however very expensive and I’m sure you could find a cheaper alternative that works just as well. But if you can justify paying £85 for it then I’d recommend you do. If you’ve tried this share your thoughts and if you know of any dupes let me know.

Anne Semonin Mineral Mask, £42
I had seen Anne Semonin’s products on Beauty Bay before but I hadn’t seen anyone talking about her products and I still haven’t. But I’ve been on a mission for what feels like years to find a good face mask and I thought that it would be worth trying this one out. It has a lot of natural marine elements which is great for treating congested skin. It is supposed to purify and detoxify and it contains all sorts of natural ingredients. One of it’s main ingredients is seaweed which it smells quite strongly of (I like the smell, some people might not though) and it detoxifies and replenishes the skin. This contained 7ml of product which is a good amount and it gave me two good uses. It left my skin feeling amazing and looking a lot better (I was having a breakout at the time) and it might possibly be my favourite face mask ever. I would highly recommend this to anyone with any skin type as it is just amazing if you can pay £42. I’m sure you could find a more affordable version so please let me know if you know of any as I’m not too keen on spending that amount on a face mask! But I love this product, it is amazing.

What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag? – Tenerife

As you may know, I recently got back from Tenerife and I thought it would be quite nice to share with you what was in my travel makeup bag. I really enjoy reading this type of post as I find them really helpful for discovering new products and for travelling too. I also enjoy writing them so I thought it would be worth doing. I thought it would be a good idea to go through each product, tell you about it, why it’s in there etc. just so you know whether you’ll like them or not. I also tried to take a small amount of products as I was taking hand luggage only. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this and let me know if you’ve tried any of these makeup products.

The Makeup Bag – I’m taking my Ted Baker Katient Small Bow Makeup Bag which fits everything minus the eyeshadow palette and the cream contour kit. It’s the pale pink one with the grey bow which is such good quality and definitely worth the price.

The Summer Bronzer – So, the first thing is the L’Oréal Glam Bronze Bronzing Powder in ‘Caribbean Sun.’ This is my favourite bronzer for bronzing the face and obviously on holiday I want to look as bronze as possible. It has a very, very slight shimmer to it which is lovely for Summer and it’s also the perfect shade for my skin.

The Stunning Highlighter – Next I have one of my all time favourite products, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in ‘Moonstone.’ You’ve probably heard everyone talking about these highlighters and it’s for a good reason (see my full review here). It is the most finely milled highlighter ever and this shade is perfect. It’s great for adding a natural glow to the skin which is what I want on holiday and in Summer.

The Waterproof Liquid Liner – I don’t wear liquid liner a lot but I need to take it in case I want to put some on. My favourites are from L’Oréal as they are easy to apply and don’t smudge or transfer and the one I’m taking is the L’Oréal Super Liner Black Lacquer Waterproof as it is waterproof perfect for humidity and hot weather.

The Lightweight Concealer – I love lightweight and natural concealers and my favourite is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in ‘Ivory.’ It gives a medium coverage and a radiant finish which I personally love and is great in warmer weather.

The Perfect Powder – As I have oily skin and the weather is hotter which will make it even more oily, powder is 100% necessary. My all time favourite is the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Transparent’ which sets my makeup into place all day and it is just as great as any high end powder.

20170325_102929

The Best Brow Kit – The brow product which I use all the time and have done for a year is the L’Oréal Brow Artist Genius Kit in ‘Light/Medium’ which has a powder and a wax. I can do natural brows for when I have no other makeup on and I can do full brows for when I’m wearing a full face. I couldn’t go a day without this.

The Contour Shade – For contour I actually use the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. It is the perfect shade for my paler skin (however, I am excited for the lighter version in May!, it’s matte and it’s so natural… I just love it! (read my full review here) It has khaki undertones but it’s also great for bronzing up the face too.

The Smudge Proof Mascara – My favourite mascara ever is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in ‘Black’. It is volumising, lengthening and even though it’s not waterproof it’s completely smudge proof. If you are looking for a waterproof mascara, the waterproof version of this is so waterproof you won’t be able to get it off.

The Matte Foundation – I’m currently trying out the Bourjois Air Mat Foundation in ‘Rose Ivory’ which I will do a full review on soon. It is a matte foundation and it keeps my oily skin shine free for a number of hours.  It’s important in hot weather for me to wear a matte foundation or it wouldn’t be on my face after half an hour.

The Perfect Palette – The Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette is my go to eyeshadow palette as it has some stunning pink shades, an array of brown shades, a matte white and also a black. The quality of these is very good, the packaging is very sturdy so it’s perfect for travelling and there is also a good mirror which is great.

The Matte Eye Primer – I think eyeshadow primer is such a necessary step as it keeps my eyeshadow on for so much longer without fading, smudging or creasing. My favourite is the Urban Decay Eden Eyeshadow Primer Potion as it’s completely matte so works with ever look.

20161217_142838.jpg

The Contour Kit – I don’t often use my Sleek Cream Contour Kit in ‘Medium’ as it’s too dark for me usually and I find contouring with powder easier. However I thought it would be perfect now as it has darker shades and I’m going to be fake tanning, I can use it to darken my foundation and it also has a large mirror which I’ll use for doing my makeup.

The Nude Lip – My current favourite nude lipstick is MAC Satin Lipstick in ‘Viva Glam II’ as it is a medium nude shade with a bit of pink in it. It has a satin finish so it’s comfortable on the lips yet it is very opaque and long lasting.

The Liquid Lipstick – I wanted to take a liquid lipstick and a true nude shade with no undertone so I’m taking my NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in ‘Abu Dhabi.’ It is a medium nude with no undertones and it is so comfortable on the lips you can barely feel it.

The Bright Lip – As I already had two nudes I thought I would take a bright lip as they look great with a tan. I decided on the Stila Color Balm Lipstick in ‘Avery’ as it’s a stunning coral pink shade and it has the nicest lip balm like formula yet is so opaque and long lasting.

The Versatile Lip Liner – As I’m taking three quite different lip options I wanted to take a lip liner that works well with all of them. I chose the Model Co Illusion Lip Liner as its a ‘your lips but better’ shade and it seems to work with anything.

Easter Sunday GRWM

As it’s Easter Sunday today I thought I’d do a get ready with me. I don’t celebrate Easter for religious reasons but my family come over and stuff. I just thought I’d just tell you what skincare I did prior to my makeup as I don’t think I’ve done that before, what I did with my hair and all about the makeup I wore as I really enjoy writing these kind of posts. Whether or not you’re celebrating Easter I hope you have an amazing day and I really hope you enjoy this.

The first thing I did was apply a facemask. I don’t do this all the time but today I just decided that I wanted to. I used the Anne Semonin Mineral Mask and I’ll do a post soon with my opinions on it. I then exfoliated my skin in preparation for makeup. The exfoliator I’m currently using is the St Ives Blemish Fighting Apricot Scrub which I’ve only just started using. I don’t have a full opinion on it yet but I’ll be sure to let you know when I do. I then moisturised my skin with some E45 Cream to rehydrated my skin and to create a good base for my makeup.

I couldn’t be bothered doing anything with my hair so I just straightened it with the ghd IV Styler. I would highly recommend these straighteners as they are such good quality and I’ve had them for about ten years.

20170325_102929

I’m actually trying out a new foundation at the moment. It’s the Bourjois Air Mat Foundation in ‘Rose Ivory’ which I’ll review as soon as I feel like I’ve used it enough to do so. I love the packaging of this foundation and it’s so travel friendly which is great. I then used the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in ‘Ivory’ which you all know I really like as it is lightweight and natural. I then primed my eyes using the Urban Decay Eden Eyeshadow Primer Potion which is amazing and it keeps my eyeshadow on all day with no creasing. I then set my under eyes, eyelids and the rest of my face with my favourite powder ever, the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in ‘Transparent.’ I then did my eyebrows with the L’Oréal Brow Artist Genius Kit in ‘Light/Medium’ which is the product I’ve been using and loving for around a year now. I defined my arches with the wax and filled them in with the powder.

I then contoured my cheekbones, jawline and nose with the Benefit Hoola Bronzer which is matte and is the perfect shade for me. They have an even lighter version coming out at the end of May which I’m really excited about. I also used this to bronze up my forehead. I then used my favourite highlighter which is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in ‘Moonstone.’ It’s the most finely milled and beautiful highlighter and it’s the most gorgeous colour too. I just did a super simple eyeshadow look using my Stila In The Moment Eyeshadow Palette. I just used the shade ‘Wonder’ all over the eyelid and then put the shade ‘Instinct’ in the inner corner. I then used my favourite mascara ever which you’ve all heard me talk about a million times. It’s the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in ‘Black’ which is just so volumising and lifting.

Before putting my lipstick on I just put on some lip balm. The one I’m using at the moment is the Burt’s Bees Hydrating Lip Balm with Coconut & Pear. I then used my favourite drugstore lip liner which is the MUA Lip Liner in ‘Caramel Nougat’ and I used the MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in ‘Crème Cup’ which is probably my favourite lipstick of all time.

My Hand Luggage Essentials

So, I just got back from the Canary Island of Tenerife. I’ll be telling you all about it in a week or two but today I want to share my hand luggage essentials. I did one of these posts last July and I just read it back and I don’t like it at all hence why I haven’t linked it for you to see; therefore I felt the need to do another one. In the posts title it says ‘travel outfit’ and I didn’t even refer to it in the post so thanks to the 12 bloggers who actually liked it! I won’t be mentioning my passport etc. because my Dad deals with all of that. Also I’m doing this in a list form so it’ll be more helpful for people using it to pack their hand luggage. I really hope you enjoy this post and let me know what your hand luggage essentials are.

  • Glasses – I can’t see long distance without my glasses so these are an essential for me. Getting lost in an airport and not being able to see is my worst nightmare so I have to make sure I have these with me at all times.
  • Sunglasses – My eyes are so sensitive to light and if the sun is quite bright then I’ll just start crying (it happens quite a lot!). Having sunglasses to put on once I arrive is really important as is having them for on the plane as both of my flights were during the day. My sunglasses of choice were New Look Black Metal Double Bar Sunglasses.
  • Ibuprofen – If you are on a plane and you have a headache or something, you want to be able to do something about it, so having ibuprofen or your preferred pain medication with you is essential.
  • A healthy snack – You can obviously buy snacks on the plane but I prefer to go into Boots or Superdrug before I board the plane to buy some healthy snacks. I like to buy a sandwich, a fruit pot and a couple of Nakd Bars. On the plane I do buy those crisps in the little box – they are the only crisps in the whole world that I like.
  • A magazine – One of my favourite things to do on the plane is to read a magazine so I always make sure I have one with me. One of my favourite magazines is Glamour.
  • A book – I sometimes like to read a book on the plane and the one I took was Make Up by Michelle Phan because I read it a few years ago and I really loved it (I would highly recommend it to all of you!).
  • Chewing gum – I don’t normally chew chewing gum but on a flight it’s very important. It makes my ears not hurt as much and it is also great if you want to freshen your breath as I don’t personally want to clean my teeth in a toilet on a plane.
  • Water – It is so important to keep yourself hydrated on flights so having a large bottle of water is just an essential. I’d recommend water over anything else as it will hydrate your skin which will get definitely get dried out.
  • Deodorant – It’s important to have this to freshen up a bit and the one I took was the Mitchum Mini Deodorant.
  • Moisturiser – On flights my skin gets dried out quite badly and a lot of other peoples skin does too. I always like to have my moisturiser on hand and the one I have is the E45 Cream which is great as it’s measured in grams so I could bring an extra liquid product with me.
  • Lip balm – I have a lip balm on hand at all times because I can’t stand having dry lips. I can’t imagine having to sit through a flight with dry lips. Burt’s Bees lip balms are the best and the one I’m currently using is the Burt’s Bees Hydrating Lip Balm with Coconut & Pear.
  • Underwear – In case your luggage in the hold goes missing or arrives at your destination after you, it’s good to have a spare pair of underwear.
  • Socks – I like to take my shoes of on the plane or I can’t get comfy so I like to bring a pair of socks that I can put on for the flight and then put in the bin straight after because the floor of a plane is not clean.
  • Earphones – It’s good to have some earphones in case you want to listen to music or watch something. I just have the Apple EarPods.
  • Jumper – It can get so cold on the plane so I always like to have a jumper with me to put on whenever. I took a one from Hollister which I can’t find the link to.
  • Scarf – For the same reason as having a jumper, I like to take a large scarf. They look fashionable and they can double as a blanket.
  • Micellar Water – On a flight my skin can feel really dirty so I like to be able to remove it with some Garnier Micellar Water.
  • Cuticle Cream – I always like to have some cuticle cream for my nails and even though it’s a bit unnecessary, I thought I’d include it as I took it with me. My favourite one is the Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.

What’s In My Travel Wash Bag?

As you’re reading this, I’m on holiday (I’ll share where I am in the next post when I’m home – just in case!) and this is the first of the five travel posts you’ll be seeing from me over the next few weeks. I thought for the first one I’d share with you what’s in my travel wash bag, probably something you don’t see too often. I just find this kind of thing really helpful for when I’m travelling to make sure I’m packing all of the right things and also just because I like to see what other people like to use and travel with. I’m not going to include every single thing in my wash bag because we all know I’ll be taking a toothbrush and I’m sure you don’t want to know what toothbrush I have! I really hope you enjoy this and let me know if you’re going anywhere soon.

  • La Roche-Posay Anthelios Anti-Shine Dry Touch SPF50+, £16.50 – It is extremely important to protect your skin from the sun and it’s also extremely important to have a different SPF particularly for your face. I actually did a post last Summer talking about the importance of sun protection. I am quite pale and burn quite easily so using a high SPF is very important for me.
  • Soltan Kids Hypoallergenic Suncare Lotion SPF50+, £9 – For the rest of my body I also got an SPF 50. I have a kids one just because it’s harder to find very high SPFs that aren’t for kids. It’s also hypoallergenic and very water resistant which is helpful.
  • Dove Derma Spa Summer Revived Fair to Medium Skin Body Lotion, £7.79 – I am definitely not going to get a tan as I’m using such high SPFs so I’m taking a gradual fake tan. I really like this tan a lot as it gives such a pretty, natural and sun kissed glow.
  • Mitchum Advanced Women Powder Fresh Deodorant, £2.99 – I needed to take a deodorant with me and this was just the first one I saw.
  • Chanel No5 Eau De Toilette Handbag Size, £75.50 – This is one of my favourite perfumes ever and it is a 20ml bottle in the handbag/travel friendly black plastic packaging.
  • Yes To Cucumbers 30 Soothing Hypoallergenic Facial Wipes, £3.99 – I needed to bring some face wipes with me and to me, a face wipe is a face wipe, they’re all the same. These were just the first ones I saw.
  • St. Ives Blemish Fighting Apricot Scrub, £4.19 – This is the face scrub I’ve brought with me. I’m currently just trying it out and I’m quite happy with it so far. It contains salicylic acid which I personally find really benefits my skin. I’ll give you my full opinions soon.
  • Foreo Luna Mini Skincare Device, £85 – This is the skincare device that I use. I love it and I could not last a day without it therefore it just had to come with me. It deeply cleanses my skin yet it’s so gentle.

20170325_102824

  • Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Mini, £1.99 – This is my favourite micellar water and I always travel with the mini version. It just gets all of the makeup off of my face so quickly and it’s so travel friendly.
  • Aloe Pura Aloe Vera Gel, £5.99 – This is the product which has just totally changed my skin (see how in my review!) so I had to bring it on holiday with me. It is also supposed to be amazing for sunburn so if by chance I do get sunburnt, then this should help.
  • E45 Cream, £2.35 – This is what I use as my night time moisturiser so I obviously had to bring it with me.
  • Burt’s Bees Hydrating Lip Balm with Coconut & Pear, £3.69 – Burt’s Bees do my favourite lip balms ever. This is the one that I’m currently using and I always need to have a lip balm with me.
  • Piz Buin in Sun Lipstick SPF30, £5 – I also need a lip balm for wearing during the day with an SPF in it and this was the highest one I could find. A lot of SPF lip balms feel horrible on the lips but this is really nice.
  • L’Oréal Elvive Fibrology Air Shampoo, £2.89 – This is one of my favourite shampoos and it makes sense to share a shampoo with my Mum and we both really like this one.
  • L’Oréal Elvive Fibrology Air Conditioner, £2.89 – Again, this is a really nice conditioner which I really like. As the word ‘air’ would suggest, it’s really lightweight which is great.
  • Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, £5.99 – My nails are awful at the minute to the point where I can’t even paint them so I’m using this to try and help them as it has all natural ingredients.

Beauty Roundup of the Month #12

I’m back with yet another beauty roundup of the month. I actually don’t have a whole lot to share this month so I wasn’t sure whether to do one or not but in the end I thought I may as well do one and hopefully you all enjoy what I have to share anyway. Next months one should be a lot more exciting as I’m currently on holiday and I probably bought a lot in duty free and will probably buy more on the way back. Be sure to let me know what you’ve been loving thought March and as I said, I hope you enjoy this despite it’s length!

I’ve been really liking liquid eyeliner which is quite unusual for me. Even more unusual, winged liner. I have quite a steady hand and have always been quite good at eyeliner so it hasn’t been that which has stopped me from doing it before, it’s the fact that I thought I looked quite weird with it on. But recently I decided that I actually really like it. The liquid eyeliner I’ve been using is the L’Oréal Super Liner Black Lacquer Waterproof which is so easy to use and does not smudge or transfer – it most definitely is waterproof! Although it’s not too difficult to get off, it breaks down quite well.

I recently switched up how I apply my foundation. I’ve started applying it with my Real Techniques Multi Task Brush. I just use it to buff my foundation into my skin which I find gives a really nice even light/medium and natural coverage. Even though it just gives quite a light and natural coverage, it makes my foundation look really flawless and streak free. If you’re looking for a new foundation brush, give this a go.

20160726_123751.jpg

And lastly I just want to talk about one of my eyeshadows from my favorite eyeshadow palette, the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. I’ve been using the shade ‘Limit’ in my crease which looks really nice alone or as a transition shade. I think I’m going to invest in a new eyeshadow palette very soon as I feel like I’ve spoken about this one way too much. I’m sure you’re all sick of hearing me talk about it, I know I’m sick of talking about it! There are a few which I’m contemplating getting:
Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette
Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette
Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette
The Balm Meet Matte Trimony Palette
Stila Matte ‘n Metal Palette
If you’ve tried any of these, please let me know what you think of them or if you have any other recommendations please let me know.
